XC State Champ Lillee Tang Commits To Naval Academy

Lillee Tang, a senior at Leon High School in Tallahassee and the 3A state cross country champion from this past fall, has committed to run in college at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Tang was one of the top senior distance runners in the state yet to compete at the start of the outdoor season after a breakthrough cross country season saw her dip under 18 minutes for the 5K with a 17:53 victory at Apalachee Regional Park in the FHSAA 3A state cross country race.

Tang has already started off her 2023 outdoor season strong running a pair of PR's with big time drops in the 1600 meter run at 5:07 and 3200 meter run at 11:10.

One of her best races of the year came in the post-season at the Garmin RunningLane National Championship race in Huntsville, Alabama as despite the muddy conditions finished 15th in the championship race for All-American honors.

Tang is the second notable signing from Florida headed to Navy as Cypress Creek's Zack Poekert, the Florida Indoor champion in the boys mile with a 4:15 PR committed earlier this school year.
