None Better than Jayvian Greene at Legends Meet

Sr. Jayvian Greene of Montverde, a University of Tennessee commit,  had a busy weekend at the Legends of Alachua County Meet in Gainesville.  His triple included a US #4, 400m win in 47.40, a Fl #4, 60m win in 6.97 and a 200m win in 21.62.  His 21.61 at the RADD Sunshine Showcase last weekend was a US #13.

The meet at the Alachua County Sports and Event Center also saw some other impressive performances.

Creekside So., Alyson Johnson, led 3 other girls to sub-5 performances with her 4:52.51 Mile on Friday.  On Saturday she went out strong, pressing the pace in the 3000m,  winning in 9:42.81. A US #6 performance. American Heritage Sr. and University of Florida commit, Ashley Fitzgerald, was second to Johnson in a US #9, 9:52.32. Fitzgerald was 3rd in the Mile with a 4:59.47.

Another outstanding early season indoor performance came from Foundation Christian Academy Sr. and University of Arkansas Commit, Madeleine Gear.  Gear ran a US #11, 2:53.27, winning the girl's 1000m race.  She is the defending 1A State Mile Champion (4:49.68).   1000m Interview

Palmer Trinity Sr., Henry Stark, followed up his 2nd place 4:20.58 PR in the Mile at the RADD Sunshine Showcase last weekend, winning the Mile in a new PR of 4:15.62.  Stark was the 1A State Cross Country Champion last Fall.

Sr. Terek Logan of Sante Fe HS was 2nd at both Jimmy Carnes and The Radd Sunshine Showcase in the Pole Vault with vaults of 4.65 (15-03.) and 4.7 (15-05.). Logan had a huge PR of 5m (16-04.75) in his win, getting over 16' for the first time.  Logan recently moved to Florida from Sheldon HS in Eugene, OR,  where he vaulted15-01 last year as a Jr.

Jr. Kai Martin of Cambridge Christian, ran a new FL #1 in the 800m, winning in 1:54.60.     Kai Martin Interview

Circelli of Ponte Vedra HS was 2nd in the 800 in 1:55.13 (FL #3) and came back later in the 600, winning in a Fl #1, 1:21.63.  Richard Circelli Interview

Sr. Dylan Cannella of Boone HS ran a FL #1, 2:36.49 in the 1000, Jr. Jabari Armstrong of Gaither ran the 60mH in FL #1, 7.98 and Sr. Jackson Hamilton of Benjamin HS won the Weight Throw with a Fl #1 throw of 19.37. Hamilton is the current 1A State Champion in the Shot Put (15.71) and the Discus (51.23)    Dylan Cannella Interview

Several additional girls had stand out performances that produced Fl #1's as well as a US#6. 

Montverde Sophomore Skyler Franklin,  on the right above, went 23.86 in the 200m giving her a US #6.   She was 2nd in the 60m with a 7.54.

So. J'Nia Simpson of of Tampa Catholic threw the shot 13m. She is the defending Indoor State Champion in the Shot Put (13.09) and the defending 2A State Champion in the Shot Put.(13.47).

Sr. Zee Curtis went 15.07 in the Weight throw.  Curtis is the 2 time defending 2A State Discus Champion.(43.87 2023) (37.77m 2022) and is the defending Indoor champion in the Weight Throw. (14.85).

Two more meets remain in the HS Indoor series at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center.   Registration is still open for the Florida HS Challenge on 2/3 and the Florida HS/MS Indoor Championships are slated for 2/10.  Registration for both is open at Direct Athletics.com.
