Adaejah Hodge Defends Her NBNI 200m Title!

On a tough day for Florida runners at both the NBNI and NIN Championships and after a 2nd in the 60m, Montverde Academy's Adaejah Hodge could only step on the track, get in the blocks, and do what she does best, run without abandon.  With her teammate, Fr. Dasia Reed, just outside her in lane six, the Sr. and University of Georgia commit did just that, winning in 22.96. Reed was 2nd in 23.67.

One had to wonder after her incredible 2023 season if she was feeling the pressure of being one of the best girls HS sprinters in the nation and the world. Last year in the NBNI 200m championship, she set the girl's National Indoor Scholastic record of 22.33.  It was also an Under 20 World Record. Outdoors she won the NBNO 200m in 22.64.  She represented the British Virgin Islands on the world stage at the World Championships in Budapest.

Hodge and Reed were not finished on the day, however. They had one more challenge.  MVA was the defending champion and Meet record holder in the girl's 4x400 Relay with a 3:45.69.  They had to wait for the last section, section 12, but the girls did not disappoint.  Hodge led off running a 55.54, Sr. Michelle Smith was the 2nd leg in 52.81, Sr. Alivia Williams was 3rd with a 53.42 and Reed anchored with a 55.42 for a new Meet record 3:38.18. Just shy of their current FL #1 All-Time 3:37.63.
