It was a fantastic day for Florida athletes as they continued their impressive performances on the Center Stage at NON and NBNO! Here are just a few of the highlights.
At the New Balance National Outdoor Championships at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, all eyes were on the Florida Sprinters. Christian Miller of Creekside HS and the St. Johns Striders went 9.95 in the semi's of the 100m setting the stage for todays final which includes two other Florida runners. Miller's teammate at Creekside and also running for the St. Johns Striders, So. Joshua Howell, ran 10.37 and So. Zamarii Sanders of American Heritage went 10.44. The finals are at 1:35 EST today.

In the girl's 100m, Sr. Adaejah Hodge of Montverde Academy won her semi in 11.36. Joining Hodge in the final will be 8th grader Vanessa Waite and Sr. Aniyah Kitt of IMG. Waite qualified with a 11.56 and Kitt an 11.74.
The girl's from IMG were third in the Sprint Medley Relay. The team of Julienne Warner, Zenji Washington, Tyler Lowe and Aurora Bertelsen Del Solar ran an impressive 3:59.72.
Yuliya Maslouskaya of IMG Academy, in her 1st Heptahlon, was 2nd in the Girl's Heptathlon scoring 4992 points.
In the boy's Discus Jr. Jason Atwood of Chiles HS threw 56.20 (184-4) for a 4th place finish and Atwood's teammate, Sr. Cade Swart, who ran Thursday in Oregon in the Men's 400 Meter Hurdles U20 - Prelims (52.58), traveled across the country to run a 52.87 for 4th place in the 400mH.
Out West in Oregon at the Nike Outdoor Nationals at Haywood Field, Sr. Rachael Uvieghara of Palm Harbor won the Girls 100m Championship in a PR 11.43. She qualified for the finals of the 200m today with a 13.85. Sr. McKenzie Travis of Evangelical Christian was 4th in the 100m with an 11.68.
Jr. Tyra Cox of Miami Northwestern put herself in the National spotlight winning the Girl's 400m Championship with a 52.65. The FHSAA 4A Triple Crown winner at State
Somerset Academy Pembroke Pines Jr. Lauren Kirby was 3rd in the Girl's Championship Shot Put with a toss of 14.70 (48-02.75).
Jr. Aleesa Samuel of Somerset Academy Pembroke Pines qualified for the finals in the girls' 100mH finals today with an 13.70. Joining Samuel in the 100mH final is Dillard Sr. Alexia Reid who qualified with a 13.85.
Of note, running in the second to last heat of the Girl's Championship 800m, 7th grader Shynah Collins of Dillard ran a 2:06.51 for 2nd place. Her time is a FL #1 Middle School 800m.
A highlight race this evening in the NON is the Boy's Mile. Tiago Socarras of Belen Jesuit is in the Boy's final heat. Socarras ran a 4:04.53 in winning the FHSAA 3A Boys Championship.
