FLRUNNERS Saturday Recap - Hartley and Young take the ROC's

In the Girl's Race of Champions 8th Grader, Avery Hartley, of Cornerstone Classical Academy, is having a spectacular year.  She is undefeated through three races, including her win at the FLRUNNERS.COM Invitational.  Harley at the mile was running controlled with a group of four girls who had broken away from the main body of runners, including Highland Preps Annabella Tomasic, Dillard's Shyna Collins and Tavare's Cheyenne Thomas.  Thomas fell off just after the half way point and Collins with about 1600m to go.  Tomasic and Hartley battled with Hartley passing Tomasic with around 500m to go and Tomasic passing her back.  Hartley then made a more definitive pass and pulled away from Tomasic to win in 18:11.23.  Tomasic ran 18:21.21.

The ROC team title was captured by Dillard with 61 points.  The Dillard scorers went 2+8+15+17+19.

Our Lady of Lourdes (Miami) was 2nd with 126 points. The Lourdes girls were led by Sr. Lucia Castillo-Rios who was 25 overall and 20 in the team race with a 20:19.88.

East Ridge was 3rd scoring 129 points, led by Jr. Rhyen Foley who was 7th overall and 5th inthe team race.  Foley ran 19:15.41.




The Boy's Race of Champions was won by Indian Rocks Sr. Blake Young.    Through the first mile Hayden Clark of Palmetto Ridge led the lead group of Young, Angel Cruz of Mariner HS, Brandon Witherow of Bloomingdale and Craig Allard Jr. of Fort Myers. Young was patient through the first 2,000m and then moved to the lead, pressing the pace, and winning in 16:00.57. East Ridge HS So. Axel Sallault was 2nd in 16:09.59.

The Boy's Race of Champions was won by Hagerty with 82 points, in a tie break, having to go to the #6 runner to break the tie. Cambridge out of Milton, GA was 2nd. The #6 runner for Hagerty placed 39th.  The #6 for Cambridge, 42nd.  

Hagerty was led by Jacob Leon who was 7th overall and 5th in the team race with a 16:17.24.  The Hagerty scorers went 5+8+18+22+36+39.

Jr. William Heilman of Sanford Seminole won the Jason Byrne Invitational with a 17:02.73. Sr. Eliezer Mateo Santiago of West Port was 2nd in 17:04.86.


The Jason Byrne Invitational girl's winner was Fr. Ella Alberici of Cambridge (GA)  with a time of 19:31.09.  The runner up was So.Caitlin Williams of St. Petersburg HS with a 20:11.54.


Your JV Boys and Girls race winners on Saturday were Fr. Landen Whiteley of Osceola HS (Seminole) in 19:14.58 and

So. Isabel Catanese of Plant in 24:03.66.
