MACON, Ga. – UCF freshman Jake Wilke was named the Atlantic Sun Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Wilke earned the honor after running the Disney Classic 8K course in a time of 25:25.60 to place eighth overall in a field of 267 runners. His effort was a school record for best time in the regular season and also ranks him fourth all-time at UCF in the 8K.
"Jake really deserves the honors," said Golden Knights' head coach Marcia Mansur-Wentworth. "He has worked hard this season and it paid off when he ran a great race at Disney."
Wilke's performance helped UCF finish fourth among 31 schools at the meet.
Wilke returns to action when the UCF men's cross country team travels to the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Oct. 16.
