EDITOR'S NOTE: I realize that it is not always the fastest time of the week that should be a candidate for recognition as the Performer of the Week. Each course is different, with varying weather conditions, levels of competition, and even distances. The poll aims to recognize and highlight the runner with the most outstanding performance of the past week. Considerable time is spent reviewing race results to select seven runners with exceptional individual performances, regardless of the meet or time. I do not always agree with who receives the most votes each week. I have an opinion, just as everyone who takes the time to look at the candidates, the performances, and to vote. Your votes count; however, the outcome of the poll should not depend on who spends time repeatedly voting from a single IP address. It should be about being an athlete, a parent, or a coach, recognizing the runner who had the most outstanding performance of the week, and voting for them. I could announce each week the Performer of the Week, but I choose to spend the time to look at the races throughout the state and outside of the state where Florida boys and girls have raced, to identify recognizable performances and allow you to vote on who you believe should be recognized as having the best performance of the week. It's your choice to vote or not. Please provide our runners the respect they are due for their efforts.
