Marcelo Mantecon set a new high school course record of 14:49.40 on the Apalachee Regional Park course, leading the Belen Jesuit boys to the Team Title! Mantecon ran a patient race as the leaders came through the 1-Mile with six boys together between 4:42 and 4:43. Holy Trinity senior Evan Spreitzer, Chiles senior Joshua Hicks, Mantecon, Belen Jesuit sophomore Nicholas Veloso, Belen junior Armando Cruz and, Providence junior Sean Cunningham led the field.

Mantecon started to press the pace just after the turn into the long straight away past the start as they heading toward the 2-mile. As they went down the gradual hill, Hicks and Mantecon had gotten out to around an 8-10m lead over Evan Spreitzer who had moved up into 3rd. Hick took the lead breifley just before the 2-mile with Mantecon responding, passing him back and taking charge of the race.

Mantecon led through the 2-mile in 9:31.8 with Hicks behind him in 9:32.10 and Spreitzer back in 3rd at 9:36.9. Veloso and Cuz had slightly fallen off the pace with Oviedo senior Colin Aysun (9:37.5), Cunningham (9:40.1), and senior Aiden Aysun of Oviedo (9:40.4), moving into the 4-6 positions respectively. Mantecon continued to press past the 2-mile with Spreitzer and Colin Aysun in pursuit. Hicks was starting to feel the pace just prior to the climb up the "wall" for the second time. Spreitzer continued his aggressive run with his eyes on Mantecon.
