A comparison of the top-ranked Florida Girls by Classification in the Sprints & Hurdles

Florida's girls sprint and hurdle scene is just as deep-and just as competitive-as the boys side. Here is a comparison of the #1-ranked girls performers in 1A through 4A across the 100m, 200m, 400m, and both hurdle events, and how each classification stacks up event-by-event against each other

100m

Miami Northwestern's Janeya Jones leads the state at 11.40, just ahead of Vero Beach's Taylor-Nicole Overton (11.43) as we head into week six of the outdoor season. .34 seconds separate the class leaders.

200m

Lake Minneola's Vanessa Waite leads a tightly packed group of classification leaders. With three girls already sub-24.00 this season, expect the slim .23 margin to get even smaller as the season progresses.

400m

Dillard's Desiree Frazier is the only girl under 54.00 this season. The seniors' 53.66 is more than a second ahead of the next closest by 1.1 seconds.

100mH

Sickles' Nia Armstrong is the only athlete under 14 seconds. She was the state runner-up last year. Miami Northwestern's Janeya Jones shows incredible versatility, appearing as one of the top hurdlers in the state as well as one of the top 100m sprinters. It's a tough double, however.

400mH

Cypress Creek's Alondra Rodriguez leads the state in this event. Last year, 6 girls dipped under 1:00, including Rodriguez, who ran 58.98 in her 4A state championship win, and Nia Armstrong of Sickles, who was second to her in the 4A championship with a 59.79.
