A comparison of the top-ranked Florida Boys by Classification in the Distance Events
Florida's distance scene on the girls' side is bringing serious firepower this season. From 1A to 4A, the top-ranked athletes in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m are not just leading their classifications-they're pushing each other toward elite statewide marks.
800m
Don't look away from the track, this is one of the most balanced, tightest events across all classifications, girls and boys
Senior Eliana Black has matured and is experienced, and is one of the most versatile girls' distance runners in the state. She has good speed and strength and a competitive drive that makes her one of the top runners in all classifications. She holds the overall edge with a 2:14.32, but just behind her are Marisa Mantecon (3A) and Alba Antunez-Perez (4A). We're talking less than a second separating three classifications.
Gabriela Socarras (2A) sits slightly off that pace but is still firmly competitive.

1600m
Unlike the tightness of the 800m, separation begins to show in the 1600 between the classifications. Atarah Robinson (4A), who has had a solid, breakout season indoors and now outdoors, leads the entire state with a strong 4:50.23. That puts her clearly at the top of the Florida leaderboard across all classifications.
Eliana Black continues to shine in 1A, comfortably under 5:00 and proving her range beyond the 800m. She has run 4:48.83, so she is capable of continuing to drop her time as we move towards the postseason.
The 2A and 3A leaders, Kate Brice and Celina Coryell, are separated by just .03 seconds, and both will be sub-5:00 as the season progresses.

3200m
4A's Alba Antunez-Perez has the fastest time across all classifications and is a full 12 seconds ahead of the other classification leaders. She is the No. 1-ranked girl in the state. She has good speed, and one wouldn't be surprised if we see her move into the 1600m rankings in the state.
Celina Coryell leads the 3A classification and is the No. 4 overall-ranked girl in the state with her 10:42.88. Watch for her to get closer to the 10:30 mark and to go sub-5:00 in the 1600m as we move further into the season. is next in line with a Watch for Black (1A) and Brice (2A), both dip under 11:00. Black has a PR of 10:30.18. Brice is only a sophomore and will continue to improve as she gains consistency and experience and builds confidence.
