Florida Breakthrough Performances: Week 5 (Mar. 9-14)

Each week, Florida high school track and field athletes post personal records across multiple events. Take a look at ten who delivered some of the biggest breakthrough performances this past week.

Nathaniel Wilson (Bay HS, Panama City) ran 1:58.25 in the 800 meters at the Tariq Barfield Invitational on March 13, improving from his previous best of 2:06.65 set in February 2026. The senior finished second of 40 competitors and ranks #129 in Florida and #50 among seniors.

Lelia Jones (Chiles HS, Tallahassee) cleared 11-3.75 in the pole vault at the Chiles Freshman-Sophomore Championships on March 10, improving from her previous mark of 10-5.98. The freshman placed second of 11 competitors and ranks #22 in Florida and #3 among freshmen.

Darian Blanks (Pine Forest HS, Pensacola) leaped 48-5 in the triple jump at Battle by the Beach on March 14, improving from his previous best of 45-6.75. The mark set a Pine Forest school record and won the event among 20 competitors, ranking #7 in Florida.

Denzel Hawkins (St. Cloud HS) ran 14.66 in the 110-meter hurdles at the Kowboy Invitational on March 14, improving from 15.30 set in March 2026. He placed second of 25 competitors and ranks #49 in Florida.

Carter Grigg (Northside Christian, St. Petersburg) ran 12.01 in the 100 meters at the Mustang Invitational on March 12, improving from 12.38 set in February 2026. The mark set a Northside Christian school record as she won the event among 114 competitors, ranking #93 in Florida. Grigg also ran a personal record 25.86 in the 200 meters, improving from 25.96.

Daimen Francis (Inlet Grove HS, West Palm Beach) ran 10.79 in the 100 meters at the Glades Central Invite on March 11, improving from 11.14. The senior's mark set an Inlet Grove school record as he won the event among 35 competitors, ranking #139 in Florida and #44 among seniors. Francis also ran 22.34 in the 200 meters, improving from 22.41.

Johnny Kleckley (Pahokee Middle-High School) threw 46-10 in the shot put at the Glades Central Invite on March 11, improving from 43-11.5. The junior won the event among 19 competitors and ranks #120 in Florida and #16 among juniors.

Joliana Simon (Royal Palm Beach HS) threw 147-3.5 in the discus at the Glades Central Invite on March 11, improving from 138-7.75 set in March 2026. The sophomore's mark set a Royal Palm Beach school record as she won the event among 19 competitors, ranking #9 in Florida and #1 among sophomores. Simon also threw 34-5.75 in the shot put, improving from 33-10.5.

Paige Livingston (Flanagan HS, Pembroke Pines) ran 15.26 in the 100-meter hurdles at BCAA South Prelims on March 9, improving from 15.58 set in March 2026. The junior won the event among four competitors and ranks #101 in Florida and #22 among juniors. Livingston also ran 1:11.14 in the 400-meter hurdles, improving from 1:11.29.

Nevaeh Medley (Wekiva HS, Apopka) ran 25.06 in the 200 meters at the Mustang Relays on March 11, improving from 25.33. The junior placed third of 14 competitors and ranks #149 in Florida and #28 among juniors.
