The State classification system often creates the assumption that bigger schools dominate across all events, but that's not necessarily true. Florida's throws landscape, like many other T&F events, isn't necessarily dictated by the size of the school. There are standout performances across all the classes. How do the top athletes in each classification stack up in the throws? Here is a comparison of the #1-ranked performers in 1A through 4A in the Shot Put, Discus, and Javelin.
Charlie Perkins of Niceville is the most dominant all-around thrower in Florida right now. He leads the state in the Shot Put (18-56m) and is near the state-leading mark in the Discus (57-07m).

In the Shot Put, 3A sets the standard, driven by a standout elite performer rather than an overall classification depth. Charlie Perkins' 18.56m throw is not just the top mark-it's nearly 2 meters ahead of every other classification, a massive gap in shot put terms. 1A, 2A, and 4A are tight in the 16-5m-16.9m range.
