Bowerman, Able Blazing Fast at Fish Hawk

At Lithia's Fish Hawk Ranch, just south of Brandon, several of the area's top runners went at it in 5K and 10K races. Laura Bowerman put together a huge PR with a 17:31 time in the 5K round. The King High junior rolled over the competition, finishing first place overall--no, not as the first placed female, she beat out all the guys in the road race as well. Also in the field was Bloomingdale freshman Jessica Forrester who also had a great time, 18:53, which is her second best 5K time ever.

Kurt Able, a junior from Wesley Chapel, opted for the longer race. He came through in second place overall with a time of 33:52--extremely impressive for a high schooler at that distance. Though, it is not a popular distance for high school athletes, the time places him in great company when looking at the 10K times from some of the state's finest over the last several years. Congratulations to all three of those athletes!
