Florida Boys Top 10 Subjective Rankings - Beyond the Clock
Week 8 | Oct. 5-10
Top 10 Holds Steady; Sangely and Ghaffar On the Move
The Top 10 remains unchanged in this week's Florida boys Beyond the Clock rankings, but the competition for a spot continues to grow. The Park Vista Snake Bite Invite produced all 10 of Florida's fastest boys' performances in Week 8, led by Casey Sangely's 15:32.72 and Kayaan Ghaffar's 15:33.73. Watch for big changes in Week 9 after the New World Fall Spectacular where
Sangely's victory moves the Spanish River senior from No. 31 to No. 18 statewide by time, improving his previous season best by 13.69 seconds. Ghaffar finished just 1.01 seconds behind, cutting 21.95 seconds from his previous best to climb from No. 48 to No. 19 statewide and No. 1 in Class 2A. Both strengthen their cases for consideration beyond the stopwatch.
At the top, Marcelo Mantecon, Armando Cruz, and Jack Michalak retain the first three subjective positions. Mantecon's 14:35.90 Great American victory, Cruz's sixth-place 14:50.60 at the same meet, and Michalak's performances at Southern Showcase and Great American continue to anchor their résumés. Axel Sallault remains No. 4 with four invitational victories through Week 6 and a 15:05.90 season best.
Snake Bite also brought Martin Fernandez, Nicholas Garcia, and Michael Gomez into the spotlight. All three recorded season bests under 15:42 and now sit inside Florida's top 30 by time. Those performances deepen the watch list, but the Week 8 results do not warrant displacing anyone from the established subjective Top 10.
Beyond the Clock weighs season-best times, complete-season résumés, recent performances, head-to-head results, competitive fields, course difficulty, and championship experience. Statewide time ranks reflect the supplied standings through Oct. 10. Movement is relative to Week 7.
