Belen Boys Record Perfect Score At Dade Youth Fair

Most of Dade County ventured over to Larry & Penny Thompson Park for the Cross Country Youth Fair. Ferguson Coach Ryan Raposo guarantees it to be a good time for all ages from middle school to high school. The boys varsity race was the Belen Jesuit show. A week after dominating at Pre-State Elliot Clemente and company bring their "A" game once again and tell not just the state of Florida, but the rest of the nation why they are a team to be reckoned with.

Schmick Duo Dominate Edgewater Invitational

It was a brisk evening at Trotters Park for the 40th running of the Edgewater Invitational. Bishop Moore boys and girls dominated the junior varsity races while the brother-sister duo of Brennen and Kaley Schmick of Cypress Creek took individual honors.

Five short months ago, it appeared as though the Gateway Conference and distance running in the 17 Duval County Public Schools would be no more.  The budget crisis that led the district to cancel funding for these teams was averted through the combined efforts of community, schools, coaches and athletes.

Gulf Coast girls, Palmetto Ridge boys win Lely Invitational

Josh Pelletier might have had a “bad day” at the 13th Lely Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, but his Bears team had a terrific one. Pelletier’s bad day consisted of a second-place individual finish and a team title for Palmetto Ridge. Carlos Miranda, Pelletier’s junior teammate, won the boys event going away in a time of 15 minutes, 44.9 seconds. (via Naples Daily News)

Winter Park Girls, Colonial Boys Take Home Title At Metro Fresh/Soph

On a windy afternoon at Winter Park High School, the Metro area freshmen and sophomore runners took to the Showalter Field course battling the other competitors and the grueling chills from the wind. Both of the races would include fewer runners than a typical meet so entries were unlimited and only the top four from each school would score points for the team with the five, six, and seven runners taking points away from other teams.
