Barringer-Simpson Back Home As World Champ

 



Jenny Barringer-Simpson will return home to Central Florida this weekend for the first time being crowned World Champion in the 1500 meters in Daegu, South Korea. Barringer-Simpson will be at Track Shack located at 1104 North Mills Avenue in Orlando on Saturday from 3-5 to meet with fans, sign posters and pictures, and even field your questions. If you can't make it on Saturday there will be another opportunity to see Jenny at Florida Hospital Celebration Health in Celebration from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

In addition to winning the World Championships Barringer-Simpson was also a 2008 Olympian in Beijing where she set an American record in the steeplechase. At the University of Colorado she was a two-time runner up at the NCAA Cross-Country Championships, three-time Outdoor Track and Field All-American, two-time NCAA Steeplechase Champion, and Bowerman Award winner. In high school she collected eight state championships at Oviedo under coach Jay Getty (three in track and five in cross country) and was a two-time Foot Locker South champion.
