Official Cross Country Regional Rankings *Updated*

It's Region week and it's time for our volunteer pollsters to break down each of their classifications to see which teams and individuals are the stand-outs and which ones have the best shot at making it to the State Championship next weekend in Dade City. Let's see what they've come up with...

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: Wollrath, Candiano, and Seymour remain atop the standings.  None were pushed in their district meets, but Seymour was near her MDB course record.  For that matter, only three PRs were set among the top-25 in district meets, including Maclay's Stefanie Kurgatt who moves up to #4.  Wollrath and Candiano face off in Region 3; Seymour and Ollinger in Region 2.  At state, it appears that we may have a pack of three leading out, another pack of three behind them, followed by a mob stringing back.  The 100th time in the database is 21:15.

2A Girls Rankings

By: Gerry Spring, Lake Highland Prep, gspring@lhps.org

Team Rankings:

Commentary:  Region time! As we approach the state meet I think there are four teams tha can make it to the podium at the Ranch. I don’t know if the region meets will reveal all but lets see. I like to look right now athe 1-5 spread as a major component so let see how it shakes out. Two interesting questions will ne whether there is a dark horse to challenge the top four and who will peak to get in the top ten.

  Team Name    Comments:
1. Cocoa Beach   Strong showing at district - just like last year 4 and 5 need to step up and I think they will
2. Bolles   The defenders won a close one at districts - nipping BK - will it be a replay of last year?
3. American Heritage   This is where I could be wrong - can they drop enough for success at the ranch?
4. Bishop Kenny   Still love their 1-5 gap at the state meet- will be tested by Bolles at the Region meet again
5. Carrolton   This is my dark horse pick this week - word from down south is to watch out - so I am watching
6. Lincoln Park   Solid all the way around- still think they can move up.
7. Bishop Moore   Solid district win - have the talent to move up even further -
8. Pinecrest   2nd to Am Heritage at district meet  but don’t hold it against them
9. Gulliver Prep   Behind Carrolton - solid showing at District
10. Ransom Everglades   Third of  three solid teams from region 4
11. Titusville    Another team that is solid and could be ranked higher - region will test my hypothesis
12. Episcopal   Might deserve to be higher - good results from 1 and 2 all year - very tough district and egion
13. Gulf   We will see if Ms Grippo can lead her team at Region 2 - a defeat of Bishop Moore shoots them up the ladder
14. Immokalee   Could be much higher as well - still improving
15. Academy of Holy Names   Holding down the 15th spot this week- a nod to the district winner in 2A-9

Individual Rankings:

Athlete Name, Grade – Team (Prev.)  Time, Comments:
1. Shelby Davidson C Beach (1) Don’t want to use too many cliches but she is clearly the 2A leader
2. Kari Grippo - Gulf   Interesting to see what 2-4 choose to do at the Ranch - will they go out or stay with Davidson?
3. Joanna McCoy - Gulliver   Solid season - will these guys chase Rogers or let her go out?
4. Daesha Rogers - Am Heritage   This is the question for me - how will she open the race at the ranch - fun stuff to watch!
5. Ashley Heitling- Mt Dora   Flies under everyones radar all season - can she crack the lead pack?
6. Savanna Gornisiewicz- P Crest   Holds on to 6th - can she move up?
7. Christine Griggs- Episcopal    This is my leap of faith - I think the district winner will run with Wilson and drop time at the ranch!
8. Mackenzie Wilson Episcopal   Strong 1-2 punch up front for Epis. with strong race for Griggs at pre state.
9. Kaysi Roberts- West Fl Tech   Continues a  strong season - I like her chances to drop some more
10. Claire Castillo - Titusville   Also consistent - think she will drop time as well.
11. Kelly Hensley - L Park   Leads a solid result for L Park -
12. Maria Balcazar Carrolton   Leads a solid result for the District champs.
13. Mary Kate Thyfault BK   Still leads strong team effort - can they regroup at Region?
14. Rachelle Alexander - Am Heritage   Helps keep AH in the hunt
15. Maleia Storm - C Beach   Key part for the CB puzzle for the state meet?
16. Julia Deyoung - Robinson   Helped team to third place at districts
17. Lauren Archer - Ransom E   A lot of faster results for her and team recently.
18. Mikayla Hodges - Arnold   Led a strong 1-2 punch for Arnold at Districts!
19. Ella Wurth- Pincrest   Holding in the top 20- solid all season.
20 Macey Kaczorowski - BK   Tough region up north - part of a solid pack at BK.

3A Girls Rankings

By: Andy Holmes, Seffner Christian Academy, aholmes@scacrusaders.com

Team Rankings:

Commentary: For this week's rankings, I ranked the top 6 teams in each region, and predicted which order they would finish at the regional meets. I then took the 6 teams from every region that I predicted to make it to state, and ranked them for top 24 teams

  Team Name, Region (Prev.)  Comments:
1. Estero, 3 (1) Stronghold on the top spot in 3A- and the state
2. Chiles, 1 (2) Should take home region title; will they be able to challenge Estero in 2 weeks?
3. Creekside, 1 (4) Moves up a spot from last rankings with very nice #1-#4 pack. Can they make things interesting with Chiles?
4. Lakewood Ranch, 3 (3) Could still be a factor at state, and still a definite top 5 team
5. Fort Walton Beach. 1 (6) Have been runiing great; don't count them out from oving up to possibly #3 at state
6. St. Cloud, 2 (5) They could also move up higher in the rankings, and favortite to win Region 2
7. Wiregrass Ranch, 2 (10) Have jumped up n the rankings about every week, but will have quite a few teams on their heels not far behind
8. Niceville, 1 (7) They could challenge Wiregrass Ranch and push up to #7
9. Fort Myers, 3 (9) Must form a tighter pack, but looking strong in holding off a tough Gulf Coast squad
10. Gulf Coast, 3 (8) Still aiming for a top 5 finish and a strong peak like last year at state expected
11. Merritt Island, 4 (11) Will not have to do much to advance or win Region 4 titel, giving them good shot to be rested up and ready for state
12. Nease, 1 (12) Should advance, but could get challenged by Bartram Trail or Ridgeview
13. Bartram Trail, 1 (13) Grabs final qualifying spot in most competitve 3A Region once again
14. Northeast, 3 (14) Looking stronger each week and a definite shot to move up a few spots in the rankings after this week
15. Ida S. Baker, 3 (NR) Takes home final spot in Region 3 after falling just short last year
 16. Melbourne, 4 (NR) Like Merritt Island, can easily qualify out of their region and rest up for state
 17. Belleview, 2 (NR) If #3-#5 runners can push up, a real chance to move up rankings
 18. Steinbrenner, 2 (NR) Looks for return trip to state, and to challenge Belleview for #3 in region
 19. King, 2 (NR) Improving group of new #3-#5 runners this year gives them a good chance to move on
 20. Mitchell, 2 (NR) Should qualify out of region 2 and will look to move up higher in the region
 21. Martin County, 4 (NR) A virtual lock to move on in region 4
 22. South Fork, 4 (NR) Out to prove along with Martin County that they belong higher in rankings
 23. Cardinal Gibbons, 4 (NR) Morgan Rodriguez gives them slight edge over Plam Bay for the #6 spot in Region 4
 24.  Palm Bay, 4 (NR) Great chance to move up a few spots in the rankings

  3A-Region 1
  1. Chiles- should take team title easily, but Creekside could give them a push with their strong pack
  2. Creekside- Strong group of front runners, but may not be enough to upset Chiles
  3. Fort Walton Beach- Has a shot to move into the #2 spot- should be close with Creekside
  4. Niceville- has not defeated FWB this year, but not too far off
  5. Nease- will be hard to move up anmore spots, but should still qualify
  6. Bartram Trail- will have to fight it out with Ridgeview for final qualifying spot

  3A-Region 2
  1. St. Cloud- Tight pack gives them slight ege to win
  2. Wiregrass Ranch- good shot at pulling off the upset, but definitely no worse than #2
  3. Belleview- We all know the Blaney sisters, but can their #3-#5 runners do enough to keep them in this spot?
  4. Steinbrenner- a solid #2-#5 pack after Garris, could move up to #3 with strong showing
  5. King- a strong performance by Kolilas and Otteson would go along way to possibly move into 3rd?
  6. Mitchell- Cancello sisters give them a great shot of moving on; could also finish anywhere from #3-#5

  3A- Region 3
  1. Estero- has regularly defeated Lakewood Ranch this year, and this week should be no different
  2. Lakewood Ranch- no Zarrella at District meet, but could still possibly push Estero and make things interesting
  3. Fort Myers- will have to really battle it out with Gulf Coast to hold this spot, Edwards looking stronger
  4. Gulf Coast- could move into the #3 spot, has been close to Ft. Myers several times this year
  5. Northeast- may be tough to move up any more spots, but should advance out of this tough region
  6. Ida S. Baker- will have to battle it out with Cypress Lake, Osceola, and Naples for final spot

  3A-Region 4
  1. Merritt Island- should easily take team title in this region
  2. Melbourne- will be tough to defeat Merritt Island- 18 points behind at district meet
  3. Martin County- likely will hopld this spot, but will have to hold off South Fork again
  4. South Fork- could move up one spot into the 3 position
  5. Cardinal Gibbons- could challenge for the #3 or #4 spots in this region
  6. Palm Bay- not many points separating #3-#5 so could move up a few spots

4A Girls Rankings

By: Ryan Raposo, John A. Ferguson HS - rraposo@dadeschools.net
Commentary: By far the trickiest ranking of the year, the task of trying to compile and compare results from 16 different districts was a daunting one. Unfortunately because of that, I have skimped on my individual rankings (I will try to work on those  and update the article later for everyone, Sorry!). As for the team rankings, I have broken down each of the teams that are shooting to qualify in the top six positions to make it to the state meet, I have listed their new state rank (based on a slew of course adjusting and spread comparisons), followed by Team Averages and 1-5 Spreads based on the District Results. Let's hope I don't upset too many this week! =)

Team Rankings by Region:

Region 1 Commentary: By far this is your fastest Region, both team wise and individually. There should be some good battles up top and a huge struggle at the bottom with 4-5 teams gunning it out for the right to make it to the state championship. Who will the Region of Death claim this year? We'll find out in a few more days...
Region 1: (15 teams) State  Comments:
1. Olympia         4 Avg: 19:05; Spr: 2:07
2. Dr. Phillips     6 Avg: 19:25; Spr: 2:37
3. Hagerty          7 Avg: 19:52; Spr: 1:38
4. Boone            8 Avg: 19:49; Spr: 1:53
5. Spruce Creek     9 Avg: 20:18; Spr: 49
6. Colonial         T-11 Avg: 20:24; Spr: 1:40
7. Oviedo           T-11 Avg: 20:30; Spr: 41
8. Winter Park      T-11 Avg: 20:35; Spr: 2:21
9. Lyman            x Avg: 20:55; Spr: 49

Region 2 Commentary: This will be an easy win for Plant, running away from everyone, after that it should result in a strong contest between five other schools whose state rankings aren't too far off from one another. I should note that District 8 was ridiculously short and District 6 seemed a little slow for a night meet at Ed Radice.
Region 2: (12 teams) State  Comments:
1. Plant           T-1 Avg: 19:25; Spr: 18
2. Freedom         10 Avg: 20:39; Spr: 1:12
3. Sarasota Riverview  12 Avg: 20:53, Spr: 46
4. Seminole         13 Avg: 20:54; Spr: 1:19
5. Wharton         14 Avg: 21:51; Spr: 1:37
6. Palm Harbor Univ.   15 Avg: 21:06; Spr: 1:41
7. St Petersburg    x Avg: 21:31; Spr: 3:38
8. Newsome          x Avg: 21:47; Spr: 2:08

Region 3 Commentary: As we keep moving down the state, so do the team rankings. Similarly to Region 2, St. Thomas will have a runaway meet, but by an even larger margin. For whatever reason (I believe it was heavy winds), but District 12 times were extraordinarily (like 60 to maybe 90 seconds) slow. So these times are a little hard to gauge.
Region 3: (15 teams) State  Comments:
1. St. Thomas Aquinas T-1 Avg: 21:05; Spr: 1:43
2. Jupiter          16 Avg: 21:23; Spr: 2:07
3. Park Vista       17 Avg: 21:49; Spr: 1:47
4. West Broward    19 Avg: 24:05; Spr: 5:55
5. Cypress Bay      20 Avg: 23:33; Spr: 2:22
6. Dwyer 22 Avg: 22:30; Spr: 32
7. Wellington       x Avg: 22:55; Spr: 2:13
8. Boyd Anderson    x Avg: 22:52; Spr: 3:03
9. Monarch          x Avg: 23:09; Spr: 1:57
10. Spanish River    x Avg: 23:19; Spr: 50

Region 4 Commentary: And finally we have the slowest Region of the state, partially due to it being South Florida and partially due to Districts 13-16 all being run at Larry & Penny Thompson Park. Here we should have another good battle between Ferguson and Lourdes, followed up by the order you see below with Gables making a run for 6th place.
Region 4: (12 teams) State  Comments:
1. Ferguson        3 Avg: 19:41; Spr: 1:01
2. Lourdes         5 Avg: 19:54; Spr: 1:07
3. South Dade      18 Avg: 22:11; Spr: 1:21
4. Coral Reef      21 Avg: 22:49; Spr: 2:52
5. Varela          23 Avg: 23:01; Spr: 3:44
6. Sunset          T-24 Avg: 23:57; Spr: 3:18
7. Coral Gables    T-24 Avg: 23:55; Spr: 1:43

BOYS REGIONAL RANKINGS

1A Boys Rankings

By: Ray Romero, East Lee County HS, raycer131@aol.com

Team Rankings:

Commentary: Well I hit 9 of the 16 district results on the head with my predictions last week.  Most of the ones I missed were due to injury and or I warned people they might not advance.  Overall the state picture remains the same though, HT is #1, PKY is pulling away a bit from TP, Maclay woke from their training slumber with Circle Christian fighting to get the #4 spot from Maclay. Short Courses, long courses, hills, no hills, great weather, bad weather, throw it all out the window.  From this point on its man to man team to team heads up racing.  You want to move on to state and take down one of the teams I have listed ahead of you, you better show up and beat one of their guys you never beat before and lay it on the line.  No more excuses everyone in the same region has the same opportunity to advance top 6 its cut and dry.  Good luck to you all hope to see you in Dade City.

  Team Name, Region (Prev.)  Comments:
1 Holy Trinity (R-3 #1) 1 16:00 AVG The State meet is their's to lose
2 P.K. Yonge School (R-2 #1) 2 16:22 AVG Beginning to put some distance on TP
3 Trinity Prep (R-2 #2) 3 16:27 AVG 4 & 5 need to close the gap on PKY if they want to keep their usual podium spot
4 Maclay (R-1 #1) 4 17:06 AVG as I said they were laying in wait training for the big show and here they come
5 Circle Christian (R-2 #3) 5 17:08 AVG the Fosters at the top of this team help keep them in the #4 position and their  3-5 only have a 30sec split
6 Tampa Prep (R-2 #4) 6 17:20 AVG Top 4 are solid pack running, # 5-7 need to step up to challenge for a top 5 finish
7 Bishop John J. Snyder (R-1 #2) 7 17:29 AVG with a 1-5 Split of 50 seconds, if the pack moves together and put all 7 infront of Tampa Preps # 5 they can move up
8 Seffner Christian Academy (R-2 #5) 8 17:31 AVG listened to my rant last rankings, top 6 at region is piece of cake now
9 Pensacola Christian (R-1 #3) 14 17:31 AVG @ Black Cat Solid pack running will take you up a spot or two
10 St John Neumann (R-3 #2) 9 17:34 AVG the 1-7 split of 1:40 is solid if they can all move together they can  move closer to the top 5 teams
11 Keswick Christian (R-3 #3) 10 17:40 AVG 3,4 &5 need to step up for this team to not get passed up and move back down the list
12 Mount Dora Bible (R-2 #7) 12 17:53 AVG 7th seed in your region, but I think you pull an upset and knock out first Academy
13 First Academy- Orlando (R-2 #6) 11 17:46 AVG Keep an eye out for Mount Dora Bible they want your spot at State
14 Community School of Naples (R-3 #3) 13 17:54 AVG # 5 needs to step up or you can keep slipping down the rankings prior to State
15 McKeel Academy (R-3 #4) (NR) 17:57 AVG great pack and 1-5 split but to contend they need to all improve together as a pack

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: This week was a bit hard to rank.  Many courses got rained on and changed, there are "discussions" of course lengths, and many top ranked guys didn't run very hard at their district meets.  The top 9 are unchanged, but # 10 Bolser and #11 Covert have awoken and want State Medals, jumping 7 and 9 spots respectively.  HT is the only team with all 7 runners in the rankings, but not far behind are PKY (4) and TP (3).  The only safe spots are the top 5, the next 5 can be had by anyone on this list.  Good luck to you all at Regionals and State.

2A Boys Rankings

By: Mike Becker, Ransom Everglades, mbecker@ransomeverglades.org

Team Rankings:

Commentary: Trying to prognosticate the state field.  OK here goes Region 1:  Bishop Kenny, West Florida Tech, Pensacola Catholic, Bolles and Eastside all likely in (in some order) with one spot up for grabs. Could be Wakulla, Arnold, Marianna, or Episcopal. I say Episcopal with two strong runners who should be in or near top 10. Region 2:  Nature Coast, Lake Nona, Lake Highland Prep, Jones, Bishop Moore all appear to have inside track; leaving one spot for Hernandez, Gulf or Frostproof? I like Hernandez's chances. Region 3: THE TOUGHEST REGION:  Immokalee, Cocoa Beach, Robinson, Lehigh, Robinson, Berkeley should all get in in some order... and that leaves a dog fight between Jesuit, Astronaut, West Shore and Lemon Bay.  Each of these teams would qualify in any other region... but they aren't in other regions so thats a moot point. Astronaut still needs a competitive fifth man ; but they will be the favorite for this spot. Region 4: (the weakest region... again thanks to Larry and Penny Thompson Park). Ransom may put 5 in top 10, Saint Andrews should be 2nd... Lincoln Park, Gulliver, Doral and Pine Crest all appear to be "in" on paper, but since paper is worthless, I bet Key West sneaks in somehow, somewhere.   As for ranking the qualifers... that will be next week .  But some questions will be answered in this penultimate week. Ransom and Kenny appear to still be on a collision course, but Immokalee, Berkeley and Nature Coast all have 5th runners competitive with BKs 5th and Ransom's 5th. Ransom's 5th is an 8th grader, while Kenny has a large amount of depth there. I do not count out Berkeley or Immokalee because of their 5th runners being in the same zip code as Kenny's and Ransom's.  Nature Coast also has the 5th, but appears to be losing too many points at 1-3. But if their top runners moves up, so does the pack. I am really having a hard time placing Lehigh. I might be way off either way.

  Team Name    Comments:
1A RANSOM EVERGLADES   A ten second gap in an easy,  untested district 16 victory.  Appears to be the team to beat
1B BISHOP KENNY   Injuries the key.  If healthy, they are co favorites with easy win in tough district 3
3. BERKELEY PREP   Most likely to challenge the top 2 especially if 3rd and 4th runners get closer to number 2 - like Kenny they win a tough district easily
4. IMMOKALEE   Have only attended one big meet…. May be higher or lower than 4th , since with few head to head match ups this is a tough call... their 5th man at districts is close to 17:00… their 6th runner almost as good as Kenny's... if that district course is not short look out for these guys!
5. COCOA BEACH   Impressive in district win…  strong 4 man gap they appear to have run districts on a slow course
6. NATURE COAST   What a five man gap…their fifth is as good as any team's….. With a push at the front who knows?
7. ROBINSON   Solid all season with a strong number 1 runner
8. BOLLES   Look for them to fight it out with Pensacola Catholic and Eastside for Region 1 runner up
9. PENSACOLA CATHOLIC   Ditto
10. EASTSIDE   Ditto
11. LEHIGH   A problematic ranking as they did not match up  at big meets.    Could be higher or lower
12. LAKE HIGHLAND   Big district win    though comparing outside of districts made difficult by "short" course?
13. LAKE NONA   Right behind LH
14. SAINT ANDREWS   Looking like they are the runner ups in Region 4  but how high at state?
15. ASTRONAUT?   If they make it out of region they might be higher than 15th  but will have to get by Jesuit, Lemon Bay and West Shore first
16 Lemon Bay, Jesuit, West Shore With Astronaut are probably fighting for one spot,

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: Sixteen districts... most pretty watered down, but loaded in District 3 and 9. Hodge and Main defeat several top ten runners in the two tough districts, and present a clear and present challenge to Irigoyen who was able to cruise. Palermo wins D14 easily and will challenge Irigoyen this week in Region 4AA.  Meanwhile Linton and Hodge will meet as well as a rematch for the Kenny Guys.  Still lots of unknowns..... don't know why Gazari has fallen off.... don't know how slow the District 3 course is or how fast D7 is.  I do know that D14 was ridiculously slow. See lots of late bloomers coming  up. Region meets will put everything on the table before the 80 degree state meet which is likely to favor kids who sweat profusely. Next week I will prognosticate the top 25   so please guys... send me some feedback to make me look good.

Athlete Name – Team    Time, Comments:
1. Bert Irigoyen - RANSOM EVERGLADES   Cruises through a weak district on slow course
2. Dillon Hodge - MENENDEZ   Wins toughest district in state by ten seconds - this former alabama state  champ as a soph appears a ctrong challenger
3. Stanley Linton - WAKULLA   Has been rapidly improving
4. Alex Main- BERKELEY PREP   Wins the second toughest district in state defeating Gazari and Sharp
5. Nicholas Palermo - NORTH  BROWARD PREP Cruises to a big victory in District 14 a 30 second victory!
6. Brian Sharp- ROBINSON   Probably had an off day at Districts and is still a challenger for the gold medal
7. Michael Barr - BIHOP KENNY   Runner up to Hodge is emerging as Kenny;s lead horse
8. Billy Scola- RANSOM  EVERGLADES   Cruises with Irigoyen and company
9. Argishti Gazari- ANCLOTE   Don't know why he has been off the last few weeks but if he is healthy and "right" is clearly still a challenger for the gld medal
10. Miguel Casiano - LEHIGH   16:10 at lee County Champs followed by district win ranking problem is few head to head matchups ….so don't be surprised if he is better than top 10 especially if district course not fast
11. Patrick Maher - BISHOP KENNY   After missing a meet? Ran as Kenny's third man at D3  but has a 16:02 p.r.
12. Shaun Majumdar - BERKELEY PREP   Has bee a solid #2 to main all season.. Usually ten seconds or so back
13. Jean Deceus- IMMOKALEE   Don't forget … he was a top finisher in last year's state meet and big district win sugnals readiness for a challenge
14. Nick Papa -  LAKE HIGHLAND PREP   Defending region champ appears resdy to try to defend title with district win
15. Taylor Hickey - ROCKLEDGE   Another district champion hitting his form
16. Don Kerrigan - PENSACOLA CATHOLIC   Hard to compare this runner with less head to head matchup but we ill see how he compares in tougher region race.
17. Leonel DelaCruz - IMMOKALEE   Under raced  and possibly  belongs closer to top of this list
18. Jims Thimogene - AMERICAN HERITAGE   Don’t be confused by slow south florida courses…
19. Alec Clark - WEST FLORIA TECH
20 Matthew Harwood- EPISCOPAL
21. Tim O'laughlin - JESUIT
22. Cody Van Natter- NATURE COAST
23. Costa Thasis- COCOA BEACH
24. Eddie Bustamante - RANSOM EVERGLADES
25. Marc Sortino - WEST FLORIDA TECH
26. Kentre Patterson - EPISCOPAL    He should  probably be way up this lift with a third place in tough district…. A late comer
  Drew Denson - ASTRONAUT

3A Boys Rankings

By: Carl Egbert, Barron Collier HS, carlegbert@yahoo.com

Team Rankings:

Commentary: We have some truly great matchups this week in the team races and in the individual races. In Region 1 Thomas Howell and Mac Reynolds finally go head to head and the team battle is going to be a great one with many of these teams being possible podium contenders. The Region 3 races will also be fast and fun with Miranda, Rojas , Pelletier, Gates and a fast rising Ace Brown. Fort Myers thumped Estero in the LCAC meet and look for Estero and Naples to be in contention on Friday.

Region 1 Commentary: This region is stacked with talented runners and teams which is going to make for a great race. The race up front is going to be amazing with Mac Reynolds, Thomas Howell, Nicholas Morken and a plethora of talented kids from FWB, Washington Leon and Chiles. On any given Saturday this Region has 4 of the Top 5 3A teams in the State. Not really going out on a limb with team predictions but I like Howell over Reynolds for Region title.

  D12 QUALIFIERS INDIVIDUAL QUALIFIERS
  1. Fort Myers Julien Cuyeu - Barron Collier
  2. Naples Cory Holt - East Lee
  3. Palmetto Ridge
  4. Ida Baker

Region 3 Commentary: This meet has the makings for an instant classic with Fort Myers , Estero and Naples all capable of winning on the right day. The individual battle between Miranda, Rojas, Brown, Gates and Pelletier is just as exciting. Rojas ran Miranda right to the line at Optimist earlier in the year and Carlos got away from him early at Fl Runners and Pre State but there is something about a smaller field and not being able to get away and hide that makes this such an intriguing match up. Throw in what is expected to be a perfect morning Friday and a flat fast course and oh baby it's gonna be fun. I like Carlos again in this matchup but it will not be easy and Estero in a squeeker over FM.
  PREDICTED QUALIFIERS INDIVIDUAL QUALIFIERS
  1. Estero Canaan Meester-Kitterman
  2. Fort Myers Bobby Ormsby
  3. Naples
  4. Palmetto Ridge Wildcards:
  5. Ida Baker Brandon Duncan - Armwood

  1. Belen Jesuit NONE
  2. Miami Central
  3. Mater Academy

Region 4 Commentary: The only mystery here is how low will Belen Jesuit go with their team score. The only threat in this region to disrupt a 15 spot is Andrew Iglesias and he will be anywhere in the top 5.
  PREDICTED QUALIFIERS INDIVIDUAL ADVANCING
  1. Belen Jesuit Andrew Iglesias - Pembroke Pines
  2. Melbourne
  3. Martin County
  4. Jensen Beach
