Let’s Do it Runners!
A special motivational submission from Stefanie Kurgatt of Maclay School
November 19th, 2011 will be for some their last high school cross country state. For others it might be their first. Whichever it maybe let us all show Dade City what we’ve got!
We have all put in tremendous work these last couple of months preparing for this day. It’ll be a day to shine, and bring out the true meaning of cross country. It is a sport of dedication, hard work, pride and love.
Cross country in Florida has come a long way; let us take it a step further. It is time to bring out our inner beasts and unleash what’s left inside of you! As you toe the line runners, remember this is where your dreams come true. Whether you are number one, a hundred or anywhere in between, do not look back and keep on going. When you start to feel pain, remember everyone around you will be feeling pain too. Embrace the weather, embrace the crowd and embrace your competition. From start to finish let everyone around you feel your passion for the sport.
At the end of the race regardless of the outcome, thank your coaches, teammates and family. They have supported you through this whole journey and will continue to support you through the rest. When you cross that line, removed your timing chip and realized what you have accomplished; turn around and face that course and say, “today I have conquered this course, tomorrow I will conquer something new.” Be proud of yourself for this is an everlasting memory. So runners, take your marks, get set, GO! Run like you have never run before. Best of luck to everyone and I will see you all on the battle field.
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength,
the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
