Saints' Standout Commits To William & Mary

Trinity Prep senior Ryan Gousse fell in love with William & Mary the moment he stepped foot on campus. Nearly six months after that initial visit Gousse decided to commit to the Griffins.

"I applied early decision and got a phone call from the coach right before Nike Southeast. He told me I had been accepted and I got my acceptance letter in the mail last Saturday."

Gousse who captured the 1A cross country state title, says Villanova was also in the picture, but in the end it was the campus setting, strong academics, and rich tradition that sold him on William & Mary.

"I absolutely loved the campus. It's not in a big city and is kind of isolated. It's not too far though from a town like Richmond. It's a great school academically. I think it got ranked as the #5 college in the U.S. and I know my parents are big into academics so that will benefit me. They are a big into tradition and are used to winning their conference and making it to nationals. I want to be a part of that."

Throughout his time at Trinity Prep Gousse has also been a part of two state championship teams in cross country and one in track. He plans to run the mile and two mile this outdoor season to prepare for a college. It's an experience that he says will be bittersweet.

"I'm definitely going to remember the guys I ran with. It will be weird starting over with a new team. I will miss them so much. However, I'm looking forward to starting at the bottom again and working my way up. It's going to be exciting."
