FSU's Tigchelaar and Gill #1 Nationally at 5K and 10K

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Junior Joep Tigchelaar and senior Vicky Gill were named the men's and women's ACC Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week for their record setting performances at the Stanford Invitational this past weekend.

Tigchelaar won the men's 10,000m in a time of 28:33.81, breaking a Florida State school record that held strong for 32 years. Tigchelaar's time was a personal best and good for an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, June 11-14. He currently holds the top spots nationally and in the ACC.

Gill finished second in the women's 10,000m, receiving an NCAA automatic bid running in a time of 33:14.98. Her time crushed the old school record by more than 44 seconds, a record previously held by Gill in a time of 33:59.67 set back in 2002. She currently holds the No.1 ranking nationally and in the ACC in the 10K. This is her second ACC Performer of the Week honor and first in track and field. Gill was named ACC Performer of the Week during the 2002 cross-country season.

·   Finished the indoor season ranked 4th in the ACC and 33rd in the nation in the 5000m run

Cross Country accolades:
·   Two-time qualifier for the NCAA Championships
·   Finished in 107th place, higher than half the field competing in the 10k course, in a personal best time of 31:10.00.
·   Earned All-Regional honors after finishing 4th at the NCAA South Regional
·   Named to the All-ACC team with a 7th place finish at the conference meet.

·   Ran 15:58.99 in the 5K at the Snowbird Invitational, good for a East Regional qualifying bid to the NCAA Regional Championships.
·   Finished the indoor season ranked 5th in the ACC and 34th in the nation in the 5000m and ranked 5th in the ACC and 48th in the nation in the 3000m
·   Placed 4th at the ACC Indoor Championships in the 5000m and 6th in the 3000m.

Cross Country accolades:
·   First-ever NCAA All-American honoree and two-time All-ACC member at FSU
·   Helped led the Seminoles to their first ever appearance at the NCAA National Championships, finishing 28th.
·   Finished 15th in the 6k run at the NCAA meet in a time of 20:07.40
·   At the ACC Championships, she scored FSU's best women's finish by placing second overall.
·   Named ACC Performer of the Week following the Pre-National meet.
