Barringer Creams 11-Minute Mark; 10:49 @ Lyman Invitational

Barringer at CC Prestate

Jenny Barringer of Oviedo had just one goal in mind going into tonight's 3200m race: break 11-Minutes! The decision was made for her to stay out of the 1600m race in order to focus on that goal; afterall Barringer had already been drained by a sub-5 mile performance before hitting an 11:04 equivalent at Florida Relays two weeks ago. So with that in mind Jenny began her quest.

She made her first 800m split of 2:28 look easy, before she glided by the mile mark at 5:17 (faster than the winning 1600 time earlier that evening). Now sub-11 seemed certain and we all questioned just by how much she would set the state's best time of the season. Finishing with a 76 second last lap, Jenny came through easily meeting her 11-minute goal and bettering the next best time in the state by 14 seconds. Great job, Jenny!
