Salute To Seniors: Shayla Sanders - Boyd Anderson

Salute To Seniors: Shayla Sanders - Boyd Anderson

What is your most memorable race?

The 200 meters.

Where did you face your biggest competition?

I don't really focus on competition. I just go out and run my race.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most?

Having the number one times in both the 100 and 200.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m thankful for all the things that have happened during my high school career.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

The hardest overcome I had to overcome was practicing with a stomach virus. I had bad cramps and felt sick to my stomach, but I made it through.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss my coaches the most. I'll miss the track and the environment.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

Just go out and run your heart out. Praise God and just RUN!

What are your college plans?

My college plans are to get to UF and work on my time management. I want to excel in school and on the track. I want to do something amazing and try to break some records. I want to be known as a true freshman.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to say thank you to my father, Carl Sanders for seeing the potential in me to run. Thanks to Coach Duchane Thomas and Coach Damion Thomas for being the best disciplined coaches. Thank you for the support from everyone that came to the track meets and supported the track team.
