Salute To Seniors: Natalie Concepcion - Ferguson

What was your most memorable race?

It's pretty hard to think of the one most memorable race because to me each race is memorable and unique. I would have to say the four MOST memorable races that were the most impacting were my last four state meet races in XC (team runner up) and track, (State Champs -4x800 and 800; 8th place - 4x400) because those were the ones that made my heart pump the most, gave me the most goose bumps on the line, and most importantly gave the team and I the biggest smiles.

What would you consider your biggest competition?

The time when I felt the most competition was the cross country state meet my senior year. Three great teams battling for that one spot.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most?

My first State Championship.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I would change the summer training of my junior year, but I've learned that things happen for a reason. It made me realize that you can't take anything for granted.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

My junior year cross country season was an obstacle I had to overcome and it only made me a stronger runner for the future.

What will you miss the most?

The family aspect of the team. My teammates are more than just teammates and close friends, they are my sisters.  My fantastic coach that always wants to see the best of his team.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

Never give up! Make goals and strive for them.

What are your college plans?

Florida State University-  double major (Chemistry/ Education)

Who would you like to say thank you to?

Coach Raposo for making me the runner I am today. Thank you for always being there for us no matter what and being the most dedicated coach I know. You are truly a person and coach that cares for not only his most talented athlete but his least talented athlete. I not only want to thank my coach, but also my parents. They are my by far my biggest supporters, never missing one of my races and have taught me to run my race like it was my last. I dedicated this track season to my mom who struggled through a rough couple of months earlier this year.
