Holy Trinity has become accustomed to making the podium over the past decade. The Tigers won the 1A state tile in 2009 and 2010, which was part of a nine year streak of top-two finishes, but in 2011 they finished in 3rd place, just missing the podium. The squad is led by 2011 individual champion Julie Wollrath. She leads a program that returns six of it's top seven from a year ago. Behind Wollrath is a pair of seniors Briana Wahy and Mackenzie Dummer. Wahy and Dummer finished 21st and 26th last year and have a ton of experience at the state meet level. The duo has run in the state meet since 2008 where they debuted with 30th and 34th place showings. Eighth grader Samantha Folio is the team's number four runner. Senior Karina Mann rounds out the top five with a host of girls battling it out for the final two spots.

On the track, the top five girls have ran under 6:00 for 1600 meters. Wahy and Folio have dipped under 5:40, while Dummer is just under 5:30 at 5:28.99.Wollrath is the 2010 State Champion in the 1600 meter with a time of 4:58.24. She won the 3200 meters this year in 10:53.15.

You can never count out Coach Butler's squad when it comes to the state meet. Although they missed the podium last year, that was probably just an aberration in what has been the most consistent top championship girls program in the state. It will be a tough battle with Providence, Oak Hall, and Maclay, but I think the Tigers find a way to sneak back up to one of the top two slots.
