Meet Recap

The Kings Academy hosted it's Lions Cross Country Invitational for the third straight year and the 2012 installment was the biggest one yet with 20 teams in attendance! John Calderon was on-site for FLRunners.com and called both the competition and the hospitality fantastic.

In the boy's race it was a pair of John I. Leonard runners that would stick together from the beginning of the race until the end. Seniors Salvador Medrano and Charline Bengston finished first and second crossing the line in 16:23.59 and 16:25.93 respectively. Their times were nearly 35 seconds faster than the nearest competitor William Fay of Atlantic. Tim Smale of Palm Beach Central edged out the home team favorite Scott Simpson at the line for fourth place. Despite John I. Leonard's 1-2 punch it was Park Vista with a strong 1-5 placing all their guys in the top 20 that gave them the team title with 67 points.

On the girls side Jupiter sophomore Courteney Zboyan picked up where she left off her freshman year. Zboyan was the lone runner to break twenty minutes for the race and ran virtually untested crossing the line in 19:47.81. She finished nearly thirty five seconds faster than runner-up Morgan Hull of Palm Beach Central. The Park Vista duo of Kaley Doyle and Laurel Brennan finished third and fourth in 20:29.61 and 20:32.31 respectively.  Park finished with their top five runners in the top twenty to win the team championship with 55 points. Jupiter led by Zboyan finished second edging out Dwyer 91-93.
