Ralph's Summary
Due to the recent completion of an extensive athletic complex reconfiguration, the Asics-ERAU Classic took flight with yet another course change (designed through the partnership of Rosolino and Hopfe, Inc.), proving, once again, that variety is the spice of cross country. Featuring more trips up "the hill", sharper turns, and enough wood chips to light Orlando for a week, the course was--if anything--tougher than ever, as times will show:
The College Men's winner was Evans Kirwa (ERAU), in 25:25.02, who led ERAU to the team title with 21 points.
The College Women's winner was Ellie Straker (ERAU), in 18:43.12, who led ERAU to the team title with 47 points.
The Boys' Varsity winner was Daniel Salas(Trinity Prep), in 16:18.16, who led Trinity Prep to the team title with a perfect 15 points. Six TP runners were follwed by five Olympic runners (45 points).
The Girls' Varsity winner was Emily Headley (Olympia), in 19:11.54, who led Olympia to the team title with 24 points.
The Boys' JV winner was Grant Gordon (Trinity Prep), in 19:33.03, who led Trinity Prep to the team title with 24 points.
The Girls' winner was Juliet Rhodes (Trinity Prep), in 24:01.70, who led the Trinity Prep to the team title with 32 points.
Presenting the awards was 2012 Olympian 1500 meter qualifier Sammy Vazquez. Sammy also "jogged" through the course in 27:20.89, and it was his fourth place finish that sealed the fourth place finish of the Eagle Alumni...in spite of their uniforms.
(Ralph is currently in the process of ruminating on the possibility of eventually contemplating the possibility of writing a story about an approximation of what may have happened--according to his point of view--in Daytona Beach this morning.)
