Seymour Set To Travel To St. Louis For USA XC Championships

Less than a week after finishing second in the 3000 meters at the Jimmy Carnes Indoor Youth Meet, Hagerty senior Bryce Seymour will embark on a trip to St. Louis, Missouri for the USA Cross County Championships. Seymour said she has been putting in high mileage over the past several weeks to be physically prepared for the 6k course at Forest Park Central Fields. Last year, Seymour competed in the event and finished 22nd out of 39 entrants with a time of 22:49.20 in less than ideal conditions. Once again, Seymour will be competing against the top high school runners as well as college freshman in the nation in the Junior Women's division. She says it will be tough, but she is looking forward to the challenge.

"It is kind of hard because a lot of college freshman do it and normally they are the ones who qualify, but I am excited to run a 6k. I like the longer distances so it should be a fun course."

The top six finishers will earn a coveted spot on Team USA for the 40th  IAAF World Cross Country Championships on March 24, 2013 in Bydgoszc, Poland.
