While the eyes of T&F in Florida were focused on the FSU Relays yesterday evening, Sophomore Andrew Beroset of Gulf Breeze High School ran a Florida #5 All-Time Mile at the Marist Mile in Atlanta. Bersoet, coming off a disappointing performance in the Mile at the NIN, traveled to Atlanta and continued to cement his place in Florida high school distance running history. Bersoset finished fourth in a race that saw Georgia's Tommy Latham become the first Georgia athlete to break the 4:00 barrier for a mile, running a 3:59.79. Beroset split 1:00.90, 1:02.26 (2:03.16), 1:02.27 (3:05.43), and 1:01.38 (4:06.81.) 4:05.38c 1600.
Beroset's 4:06.81 Mile is currently US #1 for sophomores and a US #8 all-time for sophomores. In Florida, here is how his performance last night stacks up:
Florida #5 all-time
Florida #2 all time for a sophomore
Beroset's 4:05.38c 1600 is:
