As the season approaches we break down our rankings even further by looking at the top ten boys returners in every for class 1A. The First Academy's Michael Timpson, a UF signee, owns the fastest time in both the 100 and 200m dash. Timpson was first in the 100 and 200m respectively last year at the 1A state meet. Note: This list does not take into account transfers and incoming freshman.

Michael Timpson had never made it to the state championships in track before his junior year. The same year he transferred to The First Academy. In the spring of 2014, Timpson the son of former NFL wide receiver Michael Timpson Sr. finished first the 1A state meet in the 100m dash and was runner-up in the 200. He recently announced his college decision to run for Coach Mike Holloway and the University of Florida Gators. We caught up with him to talk about that decision.

National Signing Day has come early for runners in both cross country and track and field. The early signing period allows athletes to sign allows athletes to make their announcements starting today through next Wednesday, November 19th. For those who choose to wait it out, the final signing period will open on April 15, 2015 and close on August 1, 2015. Many of the top stars around the country will have official signing ceremonies, while others may do so in the coming days. Who will be the college programs to line up an amazing class to make then national championship contenders over the next years? This week and during the final signing period that picture starts to become clearer. Windermere Prep junior Franco Martins was one of several athletes to claim two 1A Region 2 championships. First Academy's Michael Taylor and Michael Timpson Jr. swept the 100, 200, while teammate Michael Taylor won both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.

Stanford bound seniors Gaby and Daryth Gayle lead class 1A in three categories. Gaby is first in the 200 and 400 while Daryth is the favorite in the long jump. Brittany McGee of Admiral Farragut looks to sweep in the hurdles and distance standout Sarah Candiano is the best in the1600m after her performance at the Florida Relays. On the boys side, First Academy is loaded in the sprints boasting three top relays and invididual leaders in the 100m dash and 300m hurdles. Westminster Academy has their fair share of studs too makign that title bount even more competitive come May!
