The Miami-Dade County Youth Fair Championship has been a South Florida staple for nearly 20 years! Over that time thousands of athletes have competed in this meet which made us wonder, who owns the best times? We take a look at the top 200 girls and boys marks. Nicole Carpio ran 18:53.00 for Ransom Everglades back in 2008, while Belen Jesuit's Elliot Clemente has the boy's record at 15:33.43 from 2011.

Sukhi Khosla ran the fastest time ever by a Floridian at NXNSE last year when he finished runner-up in 14:56.00. Only two other Sunshine State standouts Elliot Clemente (2012 champion) and Franco Martins (2015) have broken 15 minutes on the Wake Med course during this meet. Estero's Katie Slater just missed out on a trip to Porland in 2012 after finishing 9th while Elliot Clemente took individual honors and Belen Jesuit won the team title in 2011. Slater's time of 18:04.20 and Clemente's 14:5.50 are the fastest on the WakeMed coure by any Sunshine State harrier. We conclude our 2011 cross country coverage by honoring the top male harriers of the season. Congratulations to our 2011 All Flrunners Boys Cross Country Team.

One of the state's top distance runners Elliot Clemente has committed to the Florida Gators. The Belen senior becomes the latest in a line of commitments headed to Gainesville most recently Charlotte half miler Ryan Schnulle. Clemente is the 2011 3A State Champion, and Foot Locker and Nike National finalist.

What can you say about a performance like that of Belen Jesuit yesterday? The Florida cross country hardcore knew they were witnessing one of the greatest team performances in state meet history.

A region-by-region preview of what to look for at the regional championship this weekend and who we're likely to see at the state meet.

A few years ago it was the "Belen 6-pack" and in 2010 they put together a perfect score 1-7, so why should this year be any different for a strong Belen team built on a rich tradition?

Most of Dade County ventured over to Larry & Penny Thompson Park for the Cross Country Youth Fair. Ferguson Coach Ryan Raposo guarantees it to be a good time for all ages from middle school to high school. The boys varsity race was the Belen Jesuit show. A week after dominating at Pre-State Elliot Clemente and company bring their "A" game once again and tell not just the state of Florida, but the rest of the nation why they are a team to be reckoned with.

Belen Jesuit went 1-2-3-4-6 to dominate the field at Larry & Penny Thompson Park with 16 points and a 16:24 average. The girls side was much similar with 1-3-4-5-6 for 19 points and a 20:19 average for the ladies of Ferguson.

Elliot Clemente of Belen Jesuit tore it up again with a state leading 15:27 at Spanish River. Vanessa Valentine laid down a stellar 19:08 course record at hilly Mt. Dora Bible, perhaps the best performance of any girl so far this season.

Around mid-week meet director Mike Boza indicated that the course was going to still be soggy, but not the mudfest that we saw last year. Well that ended up NOT being the case and it was once again a big mud pit. A torrential rain storm passed through on Friday afternoon and evening, only letting up about 30 or 45 minutes before the first race was to begin. Perfect timing as far as many were concerned! It was the best of both worlds... no rain during the meet but the fun true, dirty cross country that purists love!

Tested on the state and national levels, senior Elliot Clemente hopes he can propel the Wolverines to a championship. (via The Miami Herald)
