Interview with Boys Champion Cameron Allen of Matanzas High School
Key West has often been called the Gibraltar of the west, as it sits at the southern most point of the continent overlooking the Florida Straits. Originally the tiny island that only measures 7.4 sq. miles was the home to immigrants known as Conchs who came to the island from the Bahamas.
Two central Florida teams logged close to a combined 2000 miles to get the chance to run the Gauntlet at the Key West Golf Club. Matanzas and Spruce Creek made the journey, both for the first time but probably not the last as they brought back a lot of hardware, and great memories from Saturday’s meet.
