2014 Manatee County Varsity Track and Field Championships

Coaches,
The Manatee County Varsity Track and Field Championship will be hosted by IMG Academy on Thursday, April 3, 2014 on an 8-lane Rekortan Track. The facility has capacity to run the 100-meter, 200-meters, 100m Hurdles and 110m Hurdles on either straight to take advantage of wind conditions. The facility has dual bi-directional pole vault and horizontal jump runways. The dedicated throwing area is adjacent to the northeast corner of the stadium.

Entries: Shared expenses covering expenses for the Manatee County Varsity Track & Field Championships is $160 per school. IMG Academy accepts cash, check, or money order. Pay to the order of IMG Academy. Send to Attention: Meet Director-Track & Field, IMG Academy, 5500 34th Street West, Bradenton, FL 34210. Payment of shared expenses must be received by 6:00 PM Wednesday, April 2, 2014 or the schools entrants will removed from the entry list.

Entry Deadline: Entries for the Championship must be completed on the FLRunners.com web site by midnight Monday, March 31st, 2014. No late entries will be accepted as heats will be seeded by best performance.

Declarations and Scratches Deadline: All athletes entered will be declared unless scratched by telephone at email sent to meetdirector@img.com before 6:00 PM Wednesday, April 2, 2014. Please note the FHSAA Honest Effort Rule will be enforced.

Participating Schools: Bayshore, Braden River, Bradenton Christian, IMG Academy, Lakewood Ranch, Manatee, Palmetto, St. Stephens and Southeast

Entries per School: Participating School will be allowed the 4 athletes per individual event, 1 relay per school

Time schedule:
2:30 p.m. - Coaches meeting (final courtesy scratches allowed, Jury of Appeals selection, no additions or substitutions)
3 p.m. - Field Events and 4x800 Relay
6 p.m. - Running Events Begin

Rules of Competition for Field Events:
Four efforts in horizontal jumps and throws. All finals attempts. Check in at designated areas 40 minutes prior to event.

Order of Events by Gender: Girls' shot and boys' discus then the reverse at the conclusion of each. High jump and pole vault girls will be followed by boys. Long jump both boys and girls followed by triple jump boys and girls. Boys jump on south pit and girls jump on north pit.

Scoring for Team Championship: Individual events 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 Relays 10-8-6-4-2-1.

Awards: The Top Three Team Trophies, Individual Ribbons will be awarded in each event to the top finishers places 1-8. Individual event champion will receive shirts or bags.

Meet Admission: Tickets may be purchased at the stadium the day of the championship beginning at 12:00 noon. Adults: $5.00 Students: $2.00

A total of 8 passes will be distributed to each team for coaches, athletes, and managers to enter at no charge with proper I.D. through the designated gate.

Parking: Parking Fees are $5.00 per vehicle. Participating Schools will receive parking permits for official vehicles and coaching staff

Meet Operations: The following policies and procedures will assist in the meet running smoothly and concluding in a timely manner

Infield Access: No coaches or athletes will be allowed on the infield of the track. Access to the infield will be granted to working officials.

Team Area: All teams are encouraged to bring team tents and set them up in the designated area on the west fields adjacent to the stadium

Warm-up Area: The designated warm-up area is on the grass fields to the west of the stadium

Athlete Event Check-In (Running Events): Entry to the Clerk of Course Tent is through the northwest entrance to the stadium. Athletes in running events will be marshaled at the tent and escorted to the starting line of each race.

Running Events: . All finals are seeded by the athletes time as entered by the coach. Girls followed by boys in each event. All athletes enter track from the southwest gate and exit at northwest gate. Athletes must check in with the clerk at first call. The FHSAA Uniform rule will be in effect. Print your relay cards in advance for 4x800, 4x100, and 4x400. These cards must be completely filled out prior to check in at the clerks tent.

***ONLY 1/4 PYRAMID SPIKES WILL BE ALLOWED ON TRACK. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Relay Zone assignments: IMG Academy will make every attempt to secure officials at the relay zones. In the unforeseeable event coaches are needed to officiate the following assignments will be made at the coaches meeting.

1-Southeast and Palmetto, 2-Braden River and Lakewood Ranch, 3-Bayshore and St. Stephens.

Athlete Event Check-In (Jumping and Throwing Events): Athletes in jumping events will report through the designated entrance 40 minutes prior to the start of the event and will be allowed supervised warm up approaches. The pits will be closed 5 minutes before the scheduled start of the competition. Athletes in throwing events will report to the competition ring in the dedicated throwing area outside the northeast corner of the stadium and will be allowed supervised warm up throws. The rings will close 5 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the event.

Opening height for Pole Vault: Girls 6 and Boys 8
Opening height for High Jump: Girls 4 and Boys 5

Field event assignments: IMG Academy will make every effort to not use coaches as field event officials. In the unforeseeable event officials are required in the field events the following assignments would be made.
High Jump - Braden River and Bayshore, Pole Vault - Lakewood Ranch. Girls' and Boys, Girls Long Jump and Triple Jump - Palmetto and Southeast, Boys' Long Jump and Triple Jump - Manatee and St. Stephens, Shot Put - Braden River and Bayshore. Discus - Palmetto and Lakewood Ranch.

Coach and Athlete Seating: Coaches and Athletes designated seating area is in the eastside stadium seats. Coaches and spectators will be allowed to watch the horizontal jumps from the walk way adjacent to the competition area. Coaches and Spectators will be allowed to watch the throwing events outside the fence adjacent to the shot and discus rings. Seating in the west bleachers is reserved for ticket holders.
Restrooms and Concessions: Both are located on the east side of the stadium under the stands.

Athletic Trainers: ATC Certified Trainers will be on site at a location to be determined at a later date

Hospitality: Concession vouchers provided in the coaches packet will be distributed at the coaches meeting
