After a solid yet relatively mild career at Clewiston High School, AJ Richmond has become a standout as a college athlete at Webber International University.  Last weekend he took second place in the 15K at the Gasparilla Distance Classic.Milton Lyons talked with Richmond for flrunners.com about his success, how he stepped up his game so drastically from high school to college, and about his goals for the last two seasons he has left in college.  He dreams big!  But if the past is any indication, anything's possible if you want it bad enough!

Interview with Tyrone Bell Milton Lyons Feb 19, 2007

Tyrone Bell was a distance and mid-distance star for Ridgeview High and then had a stellar career on the collegiate level at Florida Southern College.  He lead the Florida Southern Moccasins to the national meet as their number one runner.Now a recent graduate, Tyrone has continued his training and ventured into the professional ranks, racking up prize money in road races around Florida. Milton Lyons talked with Tyrone after his thid place finish in the Gasparilla Distance Classic 15K about the race.  Bell also mentions his goal of qualifying for the Olympic Trials B-Standard in the 1500.

Weekend in Review: Glasser Wins at USC; Ward, Bent, Franklin Shine at UK; Thousands Run Gasparilla Jason Byrne Feb 18, 2007

Daisy Glasser won the pole vault at USC with a vault of 12-6.25 against collegiate competitors.  Joe Franklin won the mile, Chris Ward took second in the 200m, and Odeika Bent took fourth at UK.  At the Gasparilla Distance Classic the top Florida high school and collegiate performers were Christa Benton, Brigithe Moreno, Kailand Cosgrove, Austin Richmond, Scott Mackley, Grace Vandegrift, and Derek and Daniel Wehunt. Tampa Jesuit won Sunday's Marathon Relay.
