Meet Information

The 6th annual Wharton Wildcat Invitational will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018. The meet will take place on our 8-lane polyurethane rubber track located at Wharton High School. Payments- Mail checks to Wharton High School (Wildcat Track Invitational) 20150 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. Tampa, FL 33647 Attn. Eddie Henderson. All payments need to be received by Feb. 19. Coaches, please review the PowerPoint on rule changes from the FHSAA athttp://www.fhsaa.org/sites/default/files/orig_uploads/sports/track-field/archives/2017-18/2018_rules_presentation.pdf. All FHSAA rules, including rules on uniforms, will be enforced at the clerk's tent or at their field event area before athletes can check in. We will also be checking spikes to make sure only 1/4-inch or smaller pyramid spikes are used. Athletes must bring their spikes with them to check in.

3 entries per field event per school will be allowed. Athletes will be given 4 attempts (except for high jump and pole vault, which will be 3 attempts). We will be offering the javelin throw this year. Those interested must have a javelin of the correct weight (girls 600g/boys 800g) with a rubber tip that is permanentlyattached. All individualrunning events will have entry standards. Teams will be allowed to enter up to 4 per event, provided they meet the entry standards. All teams will be limited to 1 relay team per relay event.

  • 3200 Boys 12:00, Girls 14:00
  • 1600 Boys 5:40, Girls 6:40
  • 800 Boys 2:30, Girls 3:00
  • 400 Boys 1:00, Girls 1:10
  • 300H Boys 49.00, Girls 55.00
  • 200 Boys 26.00, Girls 30.00
  • 100 Boys 13.00, Girls 15.00
  • 100/110 Hurdles both 19.00

For the distance events, there will be unseeded 1600m races in the morning with a seeded top 24 girls/boys 1600m run in finals. The same method will be used for the 3200m as we will have races in the morning for the runners not in the top 24. The list of athletes accepted in the seeded 1600m and 3200m will be posted in the meet message board once entries have closed.

Prelims will start at 12:30 p.m. Heat winners will advance to finals, along with the next fastest times for events with 7 or fewer heats. Only heat winners will advance to the finals for events with 8 heats. Fastest times will advance to finals in events with 9 or more heats.

Finals will start no earlier than 4:30 p.m., but there will be at least a 45 minute break between the conclusion of prelims and the start of the finals.

Awards will be given for the top 8 finishers in each event, with trophies to the championship and runner-up teams.

The entry fee for team will be $85 per gender or $125 per school (both boys and girls teams together). Teams can enter an individual for $25 per runner. Concessions will be open throughout the day with a wide variety of food and drinks. The meet will have a limit of 45 schools. There are a variety of hotels located in the New Tampa area offering group rates to accommodate team traveling from out of town. -Girls pole vault followed by boys pole vault (opening height girls 1.83 meters, boys 2.44 meters)

***Boys/Girls Javelin after the completion of the shot/disc***

-11 AM girls high jump followed by boys high jump (opening height girls 1.21 meters, boys 1.52 meters)

-Girls 1600m (not top 24 runners) followed by boys 1600m open
