Meet Information

The 7th annual Wharton Wildcat Invitational will be held on Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020. The meet will take place on our 8-lane polyurethane rubber track located at Wharton High School. Payments- Mail checks to Wharton High School (Wildcat Track Invitational) 20150 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. Tampa, FL 33647 Attn. Eddie Henderson. All payments need to be received by Feb. 19. Coaches, please review the PowerPoint on rule changes from the FHSAA athttps://www.fhsaa.org/sites/default/files/orig_uploads/sports/track-field/archives/2019-20/2020_rules_presentation.pdf.All FHSAA rules, including rules on uniforms, will be enforced at the clerk's tent or at their field event area before athletes can check in. We will also be checking spikes to make sure only 1/4-inch or smaller pyramid spikes are used. Athletes must bring their spikes with them to check in.

Spectators there will be a $5 entrance fee and a $2 parking fee. Athletes in uniform only will be allowed in without paying. Coaches will get 2 wristbands per gender per team. The coach and athlete entrance will be just east of the main entrance to the track closer to the softball field.

3 entries per field event per school will be allowed. Athletes will be given 4 attempts (except for high jump and pole vault, which will be 3 attempts). For the Long Jump, Triple Jump, Discus and Shot Put we will have the top flight go first and every flight after that will get first 2 attempts measured and on the 3rd and 4th attemptwill need to hit the 8th place mark in order to have their last two attemptsmeasured. We will be offering the javelin throw this year.

Awards will be given for the top 8 finishers in each event, with trophies to the championship and runner-up teams.

The entry fee for team will be $85 per gender or $150 per school (both boys and girls teams together). Teams can enter an individual for $25 per runner. Concessions will be open throughout the day with a wide variety of food and drinks. There are a variety of hotels located in the New Tampa area offering group rates to accommodate team traveling from out of town. Friday,Feb. 28: Distance carnival/girls pole vault

-4:30 p.m. coaches meeting and girls pole vault warm-ups

-5 p.m. unseeded 1600 meters (unlimited entries) and pole vault starts

-6 p.m. unseeded 800 meters (unlimited entries)

-7 p.m. unseeded 3200 meters (unlimited entries)



***Note, anyone who's time finishes in the top 8 of Saturday's races will score***



Saturday,Feb. 29:

-7 a.m. coaches meeting

-8:30 a.m. seeded 3200 meters and girls/boys javelin

-9:30 a.m. 4x800 meters and all other field events begin (3 entries per field event)

  • Boys shot (girls follow) and girls discus (boys follow) after the conclusion of the javelin
  • Girls/boys long jump (triple jump follows)
  • Girls high jump (boys follow)
  • Boys pole vault
