As the sun came up over West Orange High School in Winter Garden, over 30 teams prepared to toe the line for the West Orange Invitational. Despite, some of the top teams and top runners opting to take this weekend off, the Warriors still put on a top notch meet with top notch competition. Space Coast junior Skye Zeller and host West Orange came away with trophies on the girl's side while Franco Martins cruised to victory as well as the Liberty boys.

Two and a half months after earning a silver medal at the IAAF World Indoor Championships, former Boone High School and FSU standout Marvin Bracy is back on the world stage. Bracy, Trell Kimmons, Calesio Newman, and Mike Rodgers will make up the Team USA 4x100m Relay at the IAAF World Relays this weekend in Nassau, Bahamas. We caught up with the speedster who was in between travel from his latest meet in Puerto Rico and meeting up with his new teammates in the Bahamas.
Former Boone/FSU star Marvin Bracy continued his stellar season at the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships. After rattling off three straight victories in the 60 meter dash, including wins at the New Balance Grand Prix in Boston, Millrose Games, and the USA Indoor Championships in New Mexico after running a personal best time of 6.48, Bracy was off to Poland to compete against the world's best. Bracy cruised through the qualifiers and finished the weekend with a second place showing and silver medal with a time of 6.51. Richard Kilty of Great Britan won in 6.49.

In his track and field debut two weeks ago, former Boone standout and Florida State freshman Marvin Bracy opened with a world #6 time of 6.64 and followed that up with a blazing 6.61 at the Razorback Invitational. This week he did one better going 6.57 in the prelims and a blistering 6.54 in the finals at the Arkansas Tyson Invitational. The mark ties him for world #4 and U.S. #1 with fellow American and Olympian Mike Rodgers. Bracy's time is the number one time in the NCAA this year. His time also breaks the former FSU record set by Maurice Mitchell of 6.55.

Ocoee High School played host to the 4A-3 district championships. Dr. Phillps packed a potent 1-2 punch with seniors Bridget Blake and Amber Johnson. Olympia countered with Kae itlyn Campo and Emily Headley finishing third and fourth to lead the Titans to the team title. In the boys race it was the Boone duo of Burkhardt Helfrich and Jared Hines finishing first and second and leading the Braves to a district title.

Chain of Lakes Park has always been a beautiful place to hold a cross country meet, and today was no exception. With clear skies, and a temperature that was more than accommodating for this year’s edition I got out of my car thinking to myself that it was weird that there was so much water in the parking lot.

Marvin Bracy's personal coach and trainer Ricky Argro has informed flrunners.com that the sprint sensation will not compete in the 2012 Golden South Classic. Bracy suffered a hamstring injury at the 4A State Finals in Jacksonville and is still hoping to qualify for the Olympic Trials in Oregon at the end of June.

Boone speedster Marvin Bracy crossed the line at the 4A State Finals with another gold medal in the 100 meter dash. Colonial junior Andres Arroyo continues to be dominant. Arroyo won his first Metro Conference Championship and led the Grenadiers to the team title. Boone senior Heather Classe also won her first conference title and guided the Braves to a team championship as well.
The Boone senior-to-be selected the Seminoles over Texas A&M, Florida, LSU, and a host of other schools. Bracy will play football and run track at the college level and plans on doing both as long as he can stay healthy.
