Even with Ciera Walker out and Kaitlyn Kirby competing at New Balance Nationals in New York, the East Lake Eagles found a way to pull through and sweep the team titles at the 55th Annual Ed Wells Jr. Kiwanis Invitational Track & Field Meet. The Eagle girls piled up 89 points to second place Mitchell with 76. Boca Ciega girls took third with 63 and Lecanto fourth with 62.
The 3A District 10 meet was held on a cool morning at Eagle Lake Park in Largo, where runners battled to claim their spots at the 3A Region 3 meet in Estero next week. Osceola's girls took home the title, for the second year in a row, and East Lake's boys won their first district title in school history.
In between coaching for the Clearwater High School cross country teams at the 3A District 10 Championship, Josh Carroll was able to snap over 200 photographs of the runners and awards including this awesome shot of two Tornadoes congratulations each other as they both realize they are headed to regionals and their season will continue. The CHS girls and boys both advanced as teams as well.
3A District 10 at Largo's Eagle Park provided a fantastic battle for second and third in the boy's race, an East Lake sweep in the individual races, and team wins by the Osceola girls and East Lake boys. On Saturday, October 8th, 2016, 16 Pinellas schools met for a county showdown at Sand Key Park, in Clearwater. The runners conquered sugar sand, strong winds, and ran over the infamous hill. Clearwater's girls won by a single point over Osceola and the East Lake's boys took the Championship for the second year in a row, with a 36 point lead.
The top athletes and teams in Pinellas County headed to the beach of Sand Key Park in Clearwater with bragging rights on the line. Clearwater coach Joshua Carroll posted 674 photos of all the fun and festivities.
The Tri-City Classic in Clearwater lived up to it's billing as a battle on the beach. Indian Rocks Christian's Cooper LaBrant proved size doesn't matter while East Lake's Jen Lima pulled away from her competition early on. Sit back relax and enjoy all the race videos and interviews.
The Kiwanis Tri-City Classic at Sand Key Park was more like a battle on the beach as area teams braved the sun and the sand. East Lake's Jen Lima and Indian Rocks Christian's Cooper LaBrant won individual titles while the Osceola girls and East Lake boys took home team trophies.
Josie Garba of Tampa Prep won the Indian Rocks Christian Open for the second year in a row while Cooper LaBrant of the host Golden Eagles took the boys title. On the team front, the Clearwater girls and Bloomingdale boys were victorious. Don't miss a minute of race action as well as video interviews!
This year's Indian Rocks Christian Open has a new location thanks to recent weather. The meet will be held at Taylor Park in Largo and the Golden Eagles are hoping to improve on the boys runner-up and girls third place finishes from 2015. Defending champions Leo Ochoa of Berkeley Prep and Josie Garba of Tampa Prep return with a chance to repeat.
The Osceola Warriors made two more marks in their school history on Thursday at Eagle Lake Park in Largo. Last week at PCAC, the Osceola girls won their first ever PCAC title. At the 3A-10 meet the girls won their first ever district title and it also marked the first time both boys and girls squads won district titles.
