Hagerty senior Nicolette Worrell was 16th at last year's Cross Country Finals and is hoping to improve on that finish in 2016. Recently, the Huskies standout made her college decision when she committed to Jacksonville University and head coach Ron Grigg. We caught up with Worrell to talk about the college recruiting process, why she chose the Dolphins, and much more.
Tyler Copeland was on-site at the Seminole Athletic Conference XC Championship in Lake Mary to witness the areas top athletes go head to head and captured this photos of the start of the girl's varsity race as they headed from the start on the football field into the park for the majority of the race. Trinity Prep senior Trent Mandato guided the Saints to a 21 point team win and a 37 second 1-5 split at the Hagerty Invitational. Mandato edged out Winter Spring's Matt Doyle for the individual victory in 16:25.30. On the girl's side Samantha Folio of Holy Trinity picked up her third win of the season while the Winter Park girls won the meet with 65 points, an incredible feat seeing as their #1-4 runners did not compete. See how all the races went down.
The Mike Gibson Summertime Run has been a pre-season staple in Seminole County. Lyman junior Bryce Bell and Hagerty senior Nicolette Worrell came away with victories as the 2016 regular season is right around the corner.
When things get serious, the serious get things done, and certainly that was the case with this race. With one eye on the competition, and the other on advancement, each athlete, and each team in turn, had a goal to extend their season at least one more week.
Tyler Copeland headed out to UCF for the UCF/Hagerty Invitational and snapped over 1,200 photos from the meet including this one of boys winner Andrew Stivers of host Hagerty and Mt. Dora Bible freshman Gabriel Curtis who battled it out most of the race! Check out all the images and make sure to tag yourself!
The 2015 Deland Invitational promises to be one of the best in the meet's history with over 20 teams including the Winter Park girls. We will have on-site coverage including photos, results, and a recap of all the action!

The Roman god Janus is a two-faced god; his gaze simultaneously fixed forward towards the future and back into the past (hence, his name being the root of our month of January). In Roman religion, it was this god that presided over beginnings and transitions, and was associated with motion, journeys, and passages. In Roman architecture, his presence is sometimes depicted as that of a door, either open or closed. If the door was open, it symbolized war; a closed door meant peace (hence a basis for the superstition that we should “close doors behind us,” and use of the term “close the door” on our competition).
It was a great 2012-2013 in both cross country and track across the Sunshine State. Many of our seniors will soon be on their way to start their college careers both athletically and academically so we wanted to salute them one more time in this special feature.
Less than a week after finishing second in the 3000 meters at the Jimmy Carnes Indoor Youth Meet, Hagerty senior Bryce Seymour will embark on a trip to St. Louis, Missouri for the USA Cross County Championships.
Hey Flrunners! What an exciting last two weeks it has been. I can’t believe we have already finished districts and regionals and that the state meet is in just a couple of days. Districts and regionals are always a mix of emotions for me.
Happy fall! The best part about that statement is that is that the weather has actually made it FEEL like fall. One thing all of us in Florida know is that we need to take advantage of the cool weather while it lasts because tomorrow we may see it be 80 degrees again. I’m hoping the nice cool fall weather stays around for the next three weeks for the championship season.
Trinity Prep senior Daniel Salas and Hagerty senior Bryce Seymour are this week's Warrior of the Week winners. Salas dropped another solid time going 15:28.63 at the Holy Trinity Fall Classic and picking up his fourth win of the year. Seymour lead the Huskies to a team championship at their home meet this past weekend. The senior went 18:04.50 besting runner-up and defending 4A state champion Bridget Blake by thirty-seven seconds.
Hey runners! It seems like the 2012 cross country season is just flying by. Now that we have past all the in season big meet milestones, the only thing left is the championship season. We are now down to the last five weeks and for me it is my last five weeks of high school cross country ever.
It was a beautiful morning for cross country running at Seminole State College - Oviedo Campus home of the 2012 Hagerty Invitational. Nearly two dozen teams took part in the three lap course. For some school's it will be their district meet course, for others it was a chance to get some more racing under their belts as the postseason looms. On-site coverage sponsored by Track Shack.
So this past weekend’s meet is always one everyone circles on their race calendar at the beginning of the year. Congrats to Emily Edwards and Nikita Shah. hey both ran an amazing race this past weekend at the flrunners.com Invitational.
Hello runners! This past week was just a normal week for me with school and running. Although the season has just started I am trying to enjoy every minute and make the most of my last high school cross country season. Reality has begun to catch up with me as I approach my first official visit and begin the process of filling out college applications
A good cross country runner will run hundreds of miles to prepare for that one race of 3.1 miles, a great one will run over a thousand miles during the heat of the Florida summers to accomplish great things four months later in November. Today I was fortunate to see some fantastic young athletes who obviously want to be great ones, and their work ethic, heart and determination should definitely lead them to truly great things down the road in November and beyond.
Hey everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend last week. I attended a Labor Day Soccer tournament that my brother and his team were playing in. Although it was extremely hot and it seemed that each new game was a never ending endeavor.
Hey everyone! I am happy to say that cross country season is about to finally kick off. This weekend my team competed at the Mike Gibson Summertime Run, which is always a fun unofficial first meet, but before I talk about this weekend, I am going to talk about the week before the race.
It was a hot, humid race day at Lake Mary High School as teams and athletes tuned up for the start of the regular season. Junior Kerstin Sosa took individual honors and led Hagerty to the team title. On the boys side, junior Connor Ferrentino running in his first ever cross country race takes the top spot. Winter Park after placing three of their top seven in the top seven are the boys team champions.
The Hagerty girls' cross country team returns four of it's top seven runners from a 2011 team that finished as conference champions, district champions, region runner-up, and sixth at the 4A state meet. Coach Getty's squad also will receive Bryce Seymour back for her senior year after transferring to Circle Christian as a junior.
Hi, my name is Bryce Seymour and I am a senior at Hagerty High School. Last year I attended and ran for Circle Christian and this year I am looking forward to going back to where I started my freshman year.
One of the top cross country runners in the state is returning to Hagerty High School for her senior season. Bryce Seymour ran her freshman and sophomore year under coach Jay Getty, but decided to transfer to Circle Christian for her junior year. She says the initial switch to Circle and then to Hagerty for her last year were based on academic reasons.

Lake Mary hosted the 2011 Seminole Athletic Conference Championship. The varsity races looked like they would be close in the beginning but in the end it was a pair of seniors coming away with the win. Hagerty's Amy Ankli took home individual honors and led the Huskies to the team trophy while Lyman's Brian Anderson accomplished the same feats.
