Jeremiah Green Triple Jump Extraordinaire

The biggest meet of the year so far in Tampa Bay, it was a great day in West Florida with a lot of elite performances. However, triple jumper Jeremiah Green stole the show.

Fresh off of his national indoor title in New York City last week (51-6.5), Green was back in business in the sunshine of the outdoor track. He wasted no time, grabbing the win on his first jump with a huge 52-1 personal best. He has been bagging those 50-footers like it's his job all winter/spring long, but with that 52-foot mark he is truly starting to join some elite company.  Green joins 2010 South Dade alum Kentrell Sanders as pretty convincingly the best triple jumpers in Florida over the past decade. By seaon's end it's highly possible that Green could find himself the best ever in Florida. The national record of 54-10.25 is probably unlikely (but you never know!), but a state record of 53-4 (1993 by Andre Scott of Sanford Seminole) seems oddly quite in reach with the way Green is improving his technique. Let's hope if he does so there is a wind guage at that meet to make it official; there was none today.

Green also laid down a Florida #3 long jump with a 23-6 and a fourth place 21.79 200 meter dash for good measure.
