Christian Vazquez and Erick Medina Decide to Be Warriors and “Come Out and Play”

On Tuesday two of the top 2A distance athletes from Florida decided to sign their National Letter of Intent together. At Labelle High School both Christian Vazquez (of neighboring Lehigh Senior High) and Erick Medina of Labelle signed with Webber International University. Both have only been running cross since their sophomore year. They will be joining former Labelle distance star Gabrielle Barron and Ft. Myers High’s Ryan Stafford at Webber. This is a huge signing for NAIA Webber International and Coach Peter Ormsby. In the three years that Coach Ormsby has been Head Coach both the Men’s and Women’s programs have taken off sending athletes to Nationals in Cross Country as well as Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field.

Vazquez and Medina have been great friends for the past three years going to running camps and training together as much as they could in the summer. The two athletes just love to compete and are looking forward to helping Webber’s men’s team make their goal of NAIA Nationals next year.
