It wasn't the record breaking weekend people hoped for, with the wet track and all. But some people faltered and some made the most of it; Ceolamar Ways kept his composure and rode Cameron Burrell of Texas' wake into second place in the Dream 100.
Boys Dream 100
On an incredibly wet looking track, Cameron Burrell of Texas got out to a great start. Levonte Whitfield did as well and was just a step behind him, would he be able to get him with closing speed? It looked like it would be close, but with about 30 meters to go Whitfield started to pull up a bit and stopped pushing it. Lightly grabbing his hamstring and crossing in last. On Burrell's inside though Ceolamar Ways got out of the blocks well in lane two, he dropped back a little during the acceleration phase, but once up to speed the 200-400 specialist was chugging hard. Coming in not expected to be a contender, Ways astoundingly nabbed second place!
The times in this one were not spectacular, given the conditions and people being a bit tentative, but make no mistake this was a showdown of the nation's top high school sprint talent. Ways, given the last invitation just this week, did incredibly well to keep his composure in this one. He runs to a 10.59 (10.40 for Burrell); not his best time, but possibly the biggest race of his career so far. Way to finish the season, Ceolamar!
Bromell and Williams out of lanes 5 and 6, finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in 10.61 and 10.68. Whitfield limped in for a 10.90; not good to see him hurt, but didn't look too bad.

Girls Dream 100
Aaliyah Brown took it out strong in lane one, but Ky Westbrook closed to take the victory in 11.52. Kali Davis-White had good closing speed to come up and grabbed third place.
Time out to rant: I have no idea why they change to a front view as they approached the finish. It's hard to commentate what happened exactly when they do that. You can't see who is where clearly. Rant over.
Though she entered as the favorite, Davis-White's time of 11.59 was solid aginst the best in the nation and under the conditions. Well done for her. Freshman Kaylin Whitney of East Ridge, got in there for a nice 11.64 fifth place. She is the first freshman ever to be invited to the Dream 100, so quite and honor and very well done. Deanna Hill finished in seventh of nine with an 11.90.

Boys Dream Mile
Andres Arroyo looked good and positioned well in fourth place for most of the race. Just before the bell lap, he made a move and went into second place and pushing for the lead. He extended the kick and looked in good position to challenge for the win until about 200 meters in. Others in the pack, led by eventual winner Ben Saraal made a move and Arroyo just didn't have the leg to go with them. He seemed to lock up a bit on the home stretch. The Colonial junior held on for eigth place 4:08.41.

St. Thomas Aquinas received a special invitation to come up and compete against largely Jamaican teams. They certainly held their own with a third place finish in the sloppy conditions.
