The 1A girls kick off the 2013 FHSAA Cross Country Finals bright and early Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. The battle up front will be between Holy Trinity junior Julie Wollrath and Cardinal Mooney senior Grace Casagrande. Casagrande beat Wollrath the first match up of the year at Pre-State. It was a new personal best of 18:07.61 for her as well. Last weekend the two met up again, this time on Wollrath's home course with the two-time 1A Cross Country Finals champion beating the senior by a little less than five seconds. Wollrath's winning time last year was 18:15.49. At the state meet, time is great, but the ultimate goal is to win. That is why you will see a more tactical race for most the day. If, the pair can hang back for most of the race, and it comes down to a kick, Wollrath has the advantage, and will be on her way to her third consecutive state championship.
