4A Region 4 Video Coverage: Nation Leading Races You Have To See To Believe!

Short Recap by Coach Ryan Raposo

South Florida has always been known for a lot of track & field success and while the road to state in the south has always been a tough this year it got a shot of double duty as the new FHSAA assignments basically doubled the size of 4A Region 4 adding in half of Broward County to a meet that has tradiationally been just Miami schools over the past decade or so. This meet saw ridiculous depth in almost every event area with multiple state and national level performances and premiered some of the top programs in the state: St. Thomas Aquinas Girls & Boys, American Boys, Coral Reef Boys, South Plantation Boys, Southridge Girls, Northeast Girls, and Ferguson Girls. Our national leaderboard was re-written in five events yesterday, and for those who were in attendance, you saw just how fast it was. As Coach Sam Burley said it, "The horses were on the track!"

I would like to give a personal shot-out to the meet staff at St. Thomas Aquinas and Meet Director / Head Coach Alex Armenteros for putting together a fantastic meet that had everything a track & field meet should. They ensured their hosting success by utilizing a great facility, a proper time schedule, an officiating staff whose helped run the meet rather than police it, and most importantly they created an atmosphere of friendliness and courtesy for all athletes, coaches, parents, and spectators. I look forward to future Regional competitions at Miramar's Ansin Sports Complex and I hope many of my colleagues do as well. Thanks, Alex. You handsome man you!
