East Ridge sophomore Kaylin Whitney was the first name on the MileSplit All-American Girls 100m Dash Team and is first on the 200m list as well. Whitney described her 2014 campaign as a dream season. Her 200m time of 22.49 is a world junior best, world youth best, and US#2 all-time all conditions behind only Allyson Felix's 22.11 set in Mexico City in 2003. The mark ranks as the 8th fastest time by ANYONE in the world this year (not including wind-aided times).
Spaulding, a senior to be at St. Thomas Aquinas, ran under 24 seconds at seven different meets this year including a season best 23.00w to win the Great Southwest Classic. She also posted a wind legal 23.36 to earn a runner-up finish at New Balance Outdoor Nationals.
