Tamani Wilson Kicks Off Indoor Campaign US#1 56.56 400m

With sunny skies and temperatures hovering in the 70's there really isn't reason for indoor track in Florida. However, Tamani Wilson who will run this year for Lincoln High School, wanted to take advantage of out of state competition. Wilson made the trip to Birmingham, Alabama to take part in the BSC Icebreaker meet where she clocked a US#1 56.65. She says the meet was an opportunity to see whee she is at in her fall training.

"We wanted to gauge where I was at so far and also have a chance to run in a college meet. My coaches have set their goals very high for me and considered this a pop quiz for me."

Although, the indoor season is still relatively young, less than 200 performances in the database, that is still an incredible accomplishment. The junior competed against a field of older runners and was only beat out by Santina Williams of Alabama State and 2009 East Carolina grad Tiffany Harris.  Wilson, who was third in the quarter-mile in 2012 at the 1A state championships, will compete in several more indoor meets including Jimmy Carnes set for next month in Gainesville.
