FSU Gets Two Top Recruits

The defending national track & field champion Florida State University men aren't taking anything for granted.  And they also aren't wasting any time building for their 2009 squad.  Earlier this week two top commitments were announced.  Although they cannot yet officially sign with the 'Noles, Maurice Mitchell of Missouri and Mike Fout of Indiana have given their verbal commitments to Coach Bob Braman.

Mitchell, a senior at Raytown South High School, is the top sprinter in the state of Missouri.  He was the Missouri Gatorade Track & Field Athlete of the Year and won state championships in three-count 'em three--events last spring.  His marks at the state meet:  10.42, 20.96 and 47.60.  That's a pretty nice one day triple!

Fout, the senior distance runner from LaPorte, Indiana, will also be joining the defending national champs.  He is currently ranked 12th in the nation in MileSplit's Boys Cross Country Power Rankings.  He was the state champion in the 3200 last spring in Indiana and a favorite to qualify for Footlocker Nationals this year.

Congrats to Bob Braman and the Seminoles!
