What was suppose to be a night to remember under the lights was sadly cancelled due to heavy thunder storms. Only four races were able to finish at the Martin County Under The Lights Invitational before heavy downpours came rolling in. Even though the meet didn't go as planned, we were able to see some great performances from both the middle school and JV races.

The day started off with the girls middle school race. Six teams lined up ready to go, waiting for the gun to go off. Two Westminster Academy girl's took the lead in the beginning, but the champ would be Emma Dahlgren from Somerset Academy. Dahlgren won the race in 15:43.

Onto the middle school boys race, six teams competed against each other showing some young talent throughout the course. In the beginning, Westminster Academy and Somerset Academy were in the mix between the top runners. Making it out the pack and winning would be runner Brain Washburn from Westminster Academy finishing in 13:16.

Switching starts, the race was moved to the girl's JV race. Last year's JV champ from Pine Crest, Samantha Meade, wouldn't settle for anything less than another win. Meade took a commanding lead from the beginning and lead for the entire race. She crossed the line at 23:31. Finishing behind Meade would be her teammate, Libby Torregrosa, with a time of 24:56. Third place was Jupiter 's Lindsay MacLacian who finished at 25:13. Overall, Pine Crest would take the win with 47 points just barely beating Boca Raton who scored 51 points.

For the boy's JV race, Christopher Columbus took home the victory. The Hellions won with a 20:55 team average and by placing their 7 in the top 15. Matthew Jordan, from Pine Crest,  won the race  after finished with a time of 19:40, improving from last years race by 28 seconds where he finished 6th. Jordan showed a little frustration at the finish line but only because he was shooting for a better time. His teammate Jabari Ownes finished second with a time of 19:59.90. Right on Ownes heels was Jupiter's Ben Baruch who took third place, running 19:59.97 and 9 secs back from him was Columbus' Jonathan Villalobos with a 20:08. In the end, Columbus took home the team victory with 40 points, beating Pine Crest who scored 45.
