Broward Elite Hosts Hoka One One Postal For SOFL Athletes

This week the Broward Elite Track Club hosted the Hoka One One Postal event at Calvary Christian High School. The event included a 1600m, 3200m, and a milk mile race as well as several field events.

Even though the event wasn't as large as others, we still saw some fast times. Danny Ferro ended up wining the mile running in the 4:40s, which is a decent time to run after a long cross country season.

For the 3200m, Tsion Yared ran a time of 10:49 to win for the girls. On the boys side, Ryan Szklany won with a time of 9:49

Overall, the event ended with a traditional milk mile. For those who don't know what a milk mile is, it's a mile race and each lap you must drink a cup of milk before you can continue. The goal is to run fast, but mainly finish without throwing up. It's crazy, but definitely a great time. Coach Baur from Pine Crest added a cookie challenge this year, but the winner still finished with a 5:08 mile.

Lastly, this was a great race for the Pine Crest girls to get in before the Nike regionals. Coach Baur talked about how to be ranked first, the top team is running  an 11:30 average for two miles. Based off the girls two mile this Friday, they were around an 11:20 average. The group is excited to go up to North Carolina to take on the best athletes and teams from the southeast United States.
