In Her Own Words: Ashley Klingenberg - Not Your Average Running Injury

Usually when people talk about injuries that prevent them from running, they end up going on to tell you about shin splints, a stress fracture... you name it. Currently, I am on a break from all physical activity, even walking around a lot. I have a moderate concussion that took place while I was up in Virginia. Sadly, this has put a hold on my training so far for over two weeks and will for at least another two.

Being honest, I am very bummed out right now because I was working so hard this summer for the upcoming season and I am not even allowed to do a mere sit up. So far, the concussion is testing my patience and perseverance. My doctor has sent me in for vestibular therapy to ease the symptoms and improve my balance. In case you are not familiar with that type of therapy, vestibular therapy involves specialized exercises that result in gaze and gait stabilization.

I am praying for a fast recovery but a full one. I know God has a great reason for this even if I can't see it right now, so in the meantime I am just going to relax and focus on getting better. Who knows... maybe I'll run a PR my first race back.

What do you get when you run behind a car?

EXHAUSTED!
