Which FLYRA State Meet Record Will Go Down? MS Boys Sprints

Mekhi Gammons had a rockstar AAU season back in 2018, clocking a new 400m PR of 50.42 at the AAU Junior Olympic Games. Gammons is also dominating his indoor season this year bringing home a shiny new 200m indoor PR of 23.38 and 400m PR of 52.46 at the VA Showcase. The Miami Gardens Xpress eighth grader also ran a leg on the record breaking 13-14 yo 4x200m relay at the VA Showcase last weekend.

Gammons didn't race the 400m dash at the FLYRA Middle School Championship last year, but he will add to the very deep field of strong sprinters.

Jaren Hamilton of Peak Performance Gainesville improved his FLRYA state performance by one second running a new PR of 50.50 during his AAU season, which puts him in the top three returning middle schoolers for the 400m.

Jalen Brown, of South Miami PAL, and Dominick Grullon, of MGX, are also two to watch this season in the 400m with their 51.03 and 51.70 PR's.

Just like with the 100m, Tyrese Cooper holds the 400m record in a time of 47.76. It will be a tough feat to accomplish, but this group of middle schoolers will challenge this record during the outdoor season.
